Inspired Entertaining: DIY Chalkboard Wine Glasses - StumbleUpon Last month I got an email from one of those "deal of the day" websites featuring a very cute set of wine glasses with chalkboard stems from a company called Chalkboard China. I've seen chalkboard glasses before, and always thought them to be a fun and chic way for guests to keep track of their glass throughout the night so you don't end up with mixed-up glasses or dozens of half-full glasses left around the house. But all the ones I've seen in stores feature a strip of chalkboard paint across the bowl of the glass, which I've always felt looks awkward and takes away from the beauty of the wine or beverage in the glass. What I like about this version is that the writing part is at the bottom on the stem and foot of the glass, so it doesn't compete with the beverage. I also like that the simple black foot on the glass is in itself an elegant design element, and would work just as well with no writing on it. So I figured, "I can totally make that myself!" Wim Delvoye – The Guy Who Made the Cloaca at MONA - Art & Entertainment im Delvoye’s cloaca machine has been quite a talking point since MONA opened almost a year ago in January 2011. The machine – colloquially labelled as ‘the shit machine’ – was built by the artist to mimic the actions of the human digestive system, eating full meals several times a day and producing faeces at the other end. Despite being surveyed as the ‘most hated’ piece of art in the gallery, MONA’s iPod tracking devices have since revealed that it is also the piece people spend the most time with. It isn’t that people particularly like it, but it certainly gets people talking, and that – like much of the Belgian’s work – is a large part of the point. “The cloaca is a very cosmopolitan piece,” says Delvoye of the response he got when it took it to China in 2005 for an exhibition. It is this notion that seems to incite curiosity in gallery patrons – this idea that everyone shits and that it’s not something you have to do it well or poorly. mona.net.au

MADE: TUTORIAL: Color My Summer and Cinco De Mayo--Ruffled Streamers - StumbleUpon Hello color-loving friends!Today I’m helping kick off the summer series over at Delia Creates and Kojo Designs. We’re going to COLOR my SUMMER (and yours!) because summer feels a rainbow of never-ending fun. Swimming pools are open, flowers are in bloom, berries need picking, vacations are planned, the sun stays up late, and we celebrate our nation’s birthday with fireworks and friends. So to color my summer, I’m sharing a rainbow-inspired party decoration that’s easy to make and fun to stream around the house: Standard streamers feel like the oldest party decor in the book. I first spotted the idea two years ago on My Paper Crane and the colorful image was burned into my brain. I’ve even got a tricky shortcut to help you go from standard crepe paper streamers: to colorful ruffled ones! And then you’ll be ready for any party that comes your way.Cinco de Mayo plans this week?? And hopefully the Lime Chicken Fajitas to go along. Okay, let’s get started. Let’s cheat! And sewed them up!

Make an Edible Candy Bowl | Dollar Store Mom - Frugal Fun - Crafts for Kids - StumbleUpon Today’s post is a lesson in improvisation. Why? Well, this project was INTENDED to be a candy tray, a fancy version of something I saw done flawlessly at Tutto Bella. Now, if I was a crafting perfectionist, or blogging perfectionist, or if I’d had two more cups of coffee today, maybe I’d've tried a second time to make my vision work…but I’m not, I’m not, and I didn’t. Supplies: candy canes- $1 for twelveold fashioned hard candies- $1starlight mints- $1 for a bag, I used just one for this particular project Unwrap the candy canes and starlight mint and arrange on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes, but watch it closely the whole time!! Then I realized it was still quite hot and pretty pliable, so I quickly grabbed a bowl, turned it upside down and placed the whole thing on top.
