Rich live longer, poor fall behind March 23, 2008|By Robert Pear, New York Times News Service WASHINGTON — New government research has found "large and growing" disparities in life expectancy for richer and poorer Americans, paralleling the growth of income inequality in the past two decades. Life expectancy for the nation as a whole has increased, the researchers said, but affluent people have experienced greater gains, and this, in turn, has caused a widening gap. One of the researchers, Gopal Singh, a demographer at the Department of Health and Human Services, said "the growing inequalities in life expectancy" mirrored trends in infant mortality and in death from heart disease and certain cancers. Singh and another researcher, Mohammad Siahpush, a professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, developed an index to measure social and economic conditions in every county, using census data on education, income, poverty, housing and other factors.
Fascinating Lamps by Calabarte Calabarte is the pseudonym of a Polish artist named Przemek Krawczynski, whose art takes on a peculiar but incredibly beautiful form: cool lamps. The name itself is a portmanteau of two words – art (obviously), and calabash, the fruit that carries his imagination. The calabash is a bottle gourd originating in India, although Calabarte gets his supply from Senegal. Due to ancient domestication and usage, the bottle gourd has an incredibly tough outer shell. In the past, the gourd’s usage was defined mostly as a water container, due to having a tough, smooth shell with an ergonomic shape for handling, and natural buoyancy on water.

Health Care – is it a right or a privilege I think when people say healthcare is a right, or ought to be a right, they don’t always have the same thing in mind. I think everyone would agree that you shouldn’t be denied healthcare on account of race or religion or ethnic origin, or sexual orientation. Well, maybe everyone wouldn’t agree, but it’s not what people usually dispute about. The question is whether you can get healthcare if you don’t have money to pay for it.

Container Sizes of the 21 Day Fix System Portion control is a great way to lose weight, as evidenced by CDC research. I provided a basic overview of the container system in my review summary of the 21 Day Fix program, but some readers have been asking for more specific details, including a portion or calorie chart with exact measurements of each of these containers. Beachbody (the parent company of this system) aims to keep this information a trade -secret, and refuses to release the official sizes of each container. Fear not, as I happen to have a set of these containers on hand, and have carefully measured the capacity of each color for your reference. These also apply to the containers from 21 Day Fix Extreme. maria cristina bellucci: pencil crayon jewelry nov 22, 2009 maria cristina bellucci: pencil crayon jewelry maria cristina bellucci worked for many years as a theatre costume designer and now creates her own jewelrymade from coloured pencils. the pieces are made using fragments of pencils that have been attached together and formed into a variety of shapes. the forming process reveal the interiors of the pencils, showcasing the wood and the coloured lead. via why not? nate archer I designboom
