Flashnote How often do you need to quickly write something down? Whether it's recording a telephone number when the phone book is far away, saving an URL to reuse, writing a simple TODO list or collecting some information, there are lots of examples. And just as many solutions: open Notepad, use a personal information manager, or use some other programs for creating and saving text. Solution Flashnote is a quick notes manager created for such cases. Flashnote is NOT a substitute for Notepad or some other text editor. Flashnote avaiable in: Arabic, Belarusian, Chinese (Simplified), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese(Brazilian), Russian, Spanish, Turkish. Read description from Harold & Candace Brochmann As a CEO of a large company, I have been using Flashnote for some time now and I find it absolutely indispensible for managing all the information which flows across my desk. 6 Free Online Collaborative Interactive White Boards – 2012 Update The original April 2010 article, “6 Free Online Interactive White Boards” and the more recent “Using The iPad As A Digital Whiteboard (Plus 4 Cool Free Apps To Try It Out)” have been consistent top 10 pages for viewership here on EmergingEdTech since they were published. Between them, they’ve had over 55,000 views to date. There is obviously a good deal of interest in free Interactive White Board apps. Unfortunately, several of the tools cited in the first post are no longer online, but there are some other great free digital IWBs that readers provided information about, so it’s time for an updated post. I spent some time with each of the remaining functional tools from the April Post. Here is a brief review of these four newly listed free online IWBs, followed by some updated information on three applications from the original article that are still available online today: These are three apps from the original review that are still available online: About Kelly Walsh Print This Post

Seven Free Online Whiteboard Tools for Teachers and Students This afternoon through the Free Technology for Teachers Facebook page I received a request for some free whiteboard apps. All of the following seven tools can be used to draw and type on a whiteboard in your browser. With the exception of PixiClip all of these tools can be used collaboratively for brainstorming sessions. While PixiClip doesn't allow for collaboration it does have a voice-over capability. Sketchlot is a free collaborative whiteboard service that works on any device that has a web browser. I tested it on my MacBook, my iPad, and my Android tablet. Aww App is a simple browser-based application for creating drawings. PixiClip is a great new tool tool for creating, narrating, and sharing drawings. Stoodle is an online whiteboard service supported in part by the CK-12 Foundation. Draw It Live is a nice little website that offers a free space for you to instantly create a collaborative whiteboard to use with anyone you like.

GroupZap — Welcome A rebuilt, more real time Google documents It’s been almost 4 years since we launched Google Docs. Back then people were excited about being able to access their documents from anywhere and edit those documents collaboratively online. But as Google documents became more mainstream, we started to hear more and more of you asking for features like margins, tabs, and floating images that were only available in desktop word processors. This week we released a preview of that new document editor for anyone who wants to try it out. You’ll also notice a huge improvement in the import quality when uploading and importing documents from desktop word processors into Google Docs. But we didn’t want to just bring you traditional word processing features. You’ll notice that some features, like drawings, the web clipboard, and table of contents, aren’t in the new editor yet. If you want to try out the new editor, visit the Editing tab in the Google docs list settings.

A few years later we integrated Writeboards into Basecamp Classic and Backpack. Today, the vast majority of Writeboards are created inside those two products. As part of refocusing on Basecamp, we’ve decided to retire Writeboard.com. You’ll still be able to create Writeboards inside Basecamp Classic and Backpack, but you’ll no longer be able to start new stand-alone Writeboards here at Writeboard.com. But don’t worry — any Writeboards you already created here at Writeboard.com will continue to work. Thanks to everyone who used Writeboard.com over the years. Onwards, Jason Fried, Founder & CEO, Basecamp
