Spotify Playlist App Soundrop Spreads Its Wings With An SDK: Now Anyone Can Have A DJ App Soundrop, the popular Spotify app that lets users create “rooms” to share streamed-music playlists with others, is turning up the volume on its service. Today, the company is announcing a new SDK so that others can create their own Soundrop-Spotify powered music apps. The service is kicking off with a bang: David Guetta, the French DJ, now has his own Soundrop-powered app, PlayGuetta, on Spotify. Inge Sandvik, co-founder and CEO of Soundrop, tells me that it’s one step in a larger strategy for Soundrop to be provided a platform of its own as a social music service, bringing third parties on to its platform to share and distribute music playlists. The news comes as Spotify itself looks to improve discovery and interactivity on its platform. The SDK being announced today includes APIs and a JavaScript library to incorporate features like track voting, playlist management and real-time chat, as well as access to tracks that are trending within the app.

YouTube API Blog Skitch - Fast screen capture, image editing and sharing! Home : TinyModeler The Rise Of The API, The Future Of The Web Last month, Twitter and Facebook made some moves to hide RSS feeds and put focus more on their APIs. There was the typical ranting that followed the news, some in favor of RSS and others not. Now that the conversation and controversy of RSS being killed again has died down, I wanted to address the real question behind Twitter’s and Facebook’s decisions. As I have said before, RSS is not dead, it is infrastructure. The real issue at hand is the evolution of the web. If you focus on a single web application, you would never find a reason to really move away from JavaScript and JSON. 73% of the APis on Programmable Web use REST. Granted, this is a biased sampling because Programmable Web is focused on public web application APIs. Some of the data format questions can be answered by other means as well. One important reason for the rise of APIs is that REST’s simplicity has allowed almost anyone to define an API.

Write, Photograph And Film Local News As It Breaks With Meporter Meporter is a location-based news app that enables you to write, photograph, and record video of your local news as it breaks, and then to share those stories with anyone who owns a mobile phone or has an Internet connection. Using the Meporter app on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can take a picture, make, a video, or write your own story, and post it for the world to see — all in a matter of minutes. You can post about items for sale, new styles and trends, local politics, area businesses, yard sales in progress, traffic conditions – anything that’s happening in your neck of the woods. Readers will see a user’s location, can comment on stories, and check in as eyewitnesses. Interestingly, Meporter only allows reporters to post local news – and readers to post comments – if they are on location. Meporter also allows users to stay better informed by adding their friends’ news stories to a Meporter news feed, adding Facebook friends and Twitter contacts. A: Yeah you can push to Twitter.
