Edshelf: An Educational App Directory for Teachers Earlier this month, the education startup incubator ImagineK12 held its second Demo Day, where its latest cohort of startups made their pitches to investors. I pointed to the write-up of Inigral’s Michael Staton in my weekly roundup of ed-tech news, but I realized this past week that I’ve done a particularly lousy job reviewing these latest startups here. I’ve covered Hapara and Instagrok (here and here), but that’s just two out of nine. So I’m resolved to try to cover a few more of these startups over the next few days. And for those keeping score at home, here’s the list from ImagineK12’s first graduating class last fall. Edshelf aims to address problems that I’ve covered here on Hack Education before: there’s a ton of educational content online – websites, apps and the like. When it comes to write-ups of education technology, whose reviews do you trust? Edshelf has a number of direct and indirect competitors.

home Shoe Lacing Methods Mathematics tells us that there are more than 2 Trillion ways of feeding a lace through the six pairs of eyelets on an average shoe. This section presents a fairly extensive selection of 50 shoe lacing tutorials. They include traditional and alternative lacing methods that are either widely used, have a particular feature or benefit, or that I just like the look of. 50 Different Ways To Lace Shoes Criss Cross Lacing This is probably the most common method of lacing normal shoes & boots. Over Under Lacing This method reduces friction, making the lacing easier to tighten and loosen plus reducing wear and tear. Straight European Lacing This traditional method of Straight Lacing appears to be more common in Europe. Straight Bar Lacing Hiking / Biking Lacing Quick Tight Lacing Ukrainian Lacing- New!

Collaborative writing software online with Writeboard. Write, share, revise, compare. Hello, We launched Writeboard back in October of 2005 as a stand-alone service. A few years later we integrated Writeboards into Basecamp Classic and Backpack. Today, the vast majority of Writeboards are created inside those two products. As part of refocusing on Basecamp, we’ve decided to retire Writeboard.com. You’ll still be able to create Writeboards inside Basecamp Classic and Backpack, but you’ll no longer be able to start new stand-alone Writeboards here at Writeboard.com. But don’t worry — any Writeboards you already created here at Writeboard.com will continue to work. Thanks to everyone who used Writeboard.com over the years. Onwards, Jason Fried, Founder & CEO, Basecamp

Educreations For Assessment Once again I am amazed at how well students can perform on a homework assessment, but when asked to explain the process for solving a problem, they struggle. The Situation: WHAT THE STUDENTS WERE INSTRUCTED TO CREATE We finally found something that will work for us. We created an account that all students can use to upload their content. This really opens some doors for us as we have tried to enhance student's understanding of apps that we previously used.

AirServer – 30 Apple TVs for the price of One (and instant sharing and engagement in the Classroom) This is not a Plug. I actually happily used AirServer’s competitor, Reflector, before I discovered AirServer, and it has some features AirServer lacks ( namely the ability to record the iPad screen in action on your computer). I also am a happy owner of an AppleTV at home. What is your tech of choice for getting groups of children interacting with technology? Interactive Whiteboards? I was a big fan early on. Last year, I discovered a better AND cheaper alternative. AirServer is basically a MAC/PC app that turns your computer into a mirroring device for iPads, iPhones and iPods ( depending on the version you have) as well as Mac Laptops running Mountain Lion . Compared to Apple TV, or a iWB with software included,AirServer + iPad has several advantages. First the price. Portability and ease of connectivity. Multi-view. Multiple iOS devices on the one screen I could list many more possible uses but I’ll let you brainstorm for yourself. Download AirServer and give it a go.
