Coronavirus: Testing rolled out for frontline NHS staff Media playback is unsupported on your device Frontline NHS staff in England will begin being tested this weekend to see if they have coronavirus. Workers with symptoms or those who live with people who have symptoms will be checked - starting with critical care doctors and nurses. It follows criticism over a lack of testing for health workers. Meanwhile, the prime minister and Health Secretary Matt Hancock are self-isolating after testing positive for the virus. Boris Johnson, 55, said he had experienced mild symptoms over the past 24 hours but would continue to lead the government's response to the pandemic while working from his Downing Street home. The number of people who have died with the virus in the UK rose by 181 to 759 on Friday, with 14,543 confirmed cases. At a Downing Street news conference on Friday, Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said hundreds of antigen tests - which check whether people currently have the disease - would be given to frontline staff this weekend.

Coronavirus: Six ways the lockdown has changed the UK Image copyright Getty Images Life in the UK has been utterly transformed in the three weeks since restrictions were brought in to curb the spread of coronavirus. On Monday 23 March, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said all non-essential travel and public gatherings had to stop, with people urged to leave home only for exercise, to shop for essential items, for medical care, or when their work could not be done at home. All shops selling non-essential items closed. Pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and places of worship have all also shut. 1) People are largely keeping their distance The lockdown's aim has been to limit the spread of coronavirus across the country, to help the NHS to cope and ultimately reduce the number of deaths from the disease. Since the lockdown started on 23 March, the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus has gone from 6,650 to more than 80,000. People are also adapting to how they use the health service. 2) Fewer journeys made 3) Better air quality

Tree Surgeons Ruislip Coronavirus: Mike Ashley 'deeply apologetic' for blunders Image copyright Getty Images Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley has said he is "deeply apologetic" for a series of blunders in the way his chain has reacted to the coronavirus lockdown. The retailer lobbied the government to keep his shops open, arguing they were an "essential service", but backed down after a backlash from staff and media. Mr Ashley admitted his request was "ill judged and poorly timed" and said he would "learn from his mistakes". The retail tycoon also offered to lend the NHS his delivery trucks. In an open letter, Mr Ashley also admitted the firm's communications to staff and the public were "poor". "I am deeply apologetic about the misunderstandings of the last few days. The letter marks a change in tone for the billionaire. Sports Direct had argued that it provided an essential service. However, the chain's initial plan to stay open drew widespread backlash from both politicians and the public. Image Copyright @IanLaveryMP @IanLaveryMP
