With a bombastic pre-show film starring Crystal Renn setting the mood, Pugh created an atmosphere of pure drama. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any wilder they did and with each successive piece he upped the ante. Criss-crossing cubes of transparent netting adorned the first few dresses, garnering gasps from the audience, while the Phillip Treacy masks of the finale had Paris’ most jaded fashionistas clapping. Darrell specializes in creating otherworldly, highly detailed characters and elements for stage, screen, and editorials. As a performer Darrell works regularly in nightlife, theatrical, and private events in New York City, nationally, and internationally, and has been featured in videos for Jennifer Hudson, Blondie, Brooke Candy, The Magnetic Fields, and Steven Klein. Recent live performances include the Park Avenue Armory (New York), Ageha (Tokyo), the Social Star Awards (Singapore), The Life Ball (Vienna), the Mexico City Cabaret Festival, and as the opening act on RuPaul’s Drag Race Premiere Tour.
