Birthday Board
Here ya go - - a Tutorial on how to make a Birthday Board! I guess it's about time I do a craft post for ya - I've enjoyed the break but am ready to show you some things that I've been up to - and I'm sure you're ready to read actual craft posts, since this is a craft blog and all :) I made this Birthday Board for Trevor's mom - Trevor is one of 9 kids, so there's a lot of them! Instead of doing the whole family's birthdays, I just did the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Easy Origami Envelope
If you’d like to make these cute little “Flap Lock” Origami Envelopes–all you’ll need is a piece of square paper…any size. I used Christmas scrapbook paper. 1. Fold the paper in half to form a triangle. Make sure your edges are even. 2.
DIY Thread LED Tealight Cover
I was messing around with different materials trying to dress up a little LED tealight, and this is one of the versions I ended up liking (plus it’s dirt cheap since it’s just thread!). I love me some textures. This may be useful for those with wedding venues that don’t allow real flames. Finding these* at the dollar store is what started this mess… 1) Get your hands on some thin cardboard that you’ll be recycling anyway.
The Wordclock Grew Up!
Well, It had to happen. I first published my WordClock project in September 2009. It was a Microchip PIC based clock, using a PIC16F877A microprocessor. In the last year and a half, I have been constantly improving it, and have adapted it to the Arduino, and even designed an updated controller board for it. Well, It got better. I have discovered how to cut Vinyl stencils, and have been experimenting with Perspex, so I thought it was time to share what I have been playing with.
How to Turn a Pallet into a Garden
Good news and bad news. I had planned to film a short video showing you how to make a pallet garden, but the weather didn’t cooperate. I was stapling the landscape fabric onto the pallet when it started drizzling and got really windy.

It might not always be perfect, but it’s sure a lot of fun! Gave That: Origami Star Ornaments : Gift Of Giving
These are addictive to make... these Origami star ornaments are the blue Damask velum version of my previous ones (see here). The translucent velum really comes to life when lit from behind via the tree lights. Snowflake punches and tiny gems dot the centers and these work as gift bows as well.
sling magazine rack
It seems I have a clutter problem. Previously it was piles of mail; this time it’s piles of magazines. Riffing on the form and function of my last post, the mail basket, I thought the same construction techniques could be used for a magazine rack. I swear to you, though, I will not use this style again next month for a laundry basket! — Matt
DIY Lace Earrings - HonestlyWTF
Dolce & Gabbana‘s Spring ’11 collection undoubtedly furthered our already fanatical obsession with lace. Honestly, how dreamy is the collection?! We thought we’d make good use of some vintage lace trim we had laying around and turn them into earrings similar to the ones we saw on the runway. And thanks to some tips from a DIY previously featured on Poppytalk, making lace earrings proved be a cinch! Mix equal parts glue to water in a bowl.
Pinspiration: White Vase + Pom Pom Flower
Have you seen all those glass vases painted white? There ALL over Pinterest. I love how clean they look… So, of course, I needed to try it out.
