Top 50 Twitter Acronyms, Abbreviations and Initialisms
This past January, I wrote up the “Top 15 Twitter acronyms” for @pistachio‘s Touchbase blog. As readers rightly pointed out, many were abbreviations or initialisms — hence the title for this post. I followed that up with a “Top 10 NSFW Twitter Abbreviations.” This list combines the two and includes some key additions, like HT, RE and FML. If you have others you think I missed, add ‘em in the comments. @Reply to [username] AFAIKAs Far as I Know b/cBecause BFNBye For now BRBest Regards BTWBy the Way DMDirect Message. d username sends one. History Essays - John F. Kennedy The argument that President John F. Kennedy acted recklessly during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 is one forwarded by revisionist historians. Writers such as Barton Bernstein have argued that the actions of Kennedy were based upon his assumption that he viewed the missiles placed in Cuba as an offensive military threat. The argument seeking to apportion blame to Kennedy claims he resorted to a public and military response to the crisis rather than using private, diplomatic channels. However, the charge of recklessness can ignore the influences of domestic pressures, the motives of the Soviets, the influence Kennedy’s advisers and the perception of the crisis at the time. The dictionary definition of recklessness is ‘the trait of giving little thought to danger’. There is some evidence to substantiate the view that Kennedy acted for reasons other than a primary concern for the security of the nation. Cuba was already a consideration for the Kennedy Administration before 1962.

TwitteRadar Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread - StumbleUpon How do you make bread even better? You stuff it with pepperoni and cheese. Then, you bake it in a bundt pan that allows you to pull off little chunks and dip them in pizza sauce. This bread takes a little bit of time to prepare, but in about half an hour I had filled my bundt pan with little dough balls, each with a piece of pepperoni and cheese stuffed within it. My new definition of bliss: warm dough with a cheesy center and a bite of pepperoni. Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Breadfrom Confections of a Foodie BrideIngredients: -2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced -4 tbsp butter -2 lbs pizza dough (I used 2 balls of Trader Joe's fresh dough) -6 oz. mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes (about 48 pieces) -pepperoni (about 48 slices) -2-3 cups marinara sauce for serving Directions: 1. 3. 4. Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce {My Go-To Dinner Saver!} - StumbleUpon I am not (not!) exaggerating when I say this quick, creamy garlic alfredo sauce has changed how I view non-dinner nights. You know. Those nights when dinner just ain’t happening. The problem is, on nights like that, I just can’t handle the thought of dinner approaching and knowing I’m going to have to scrounge up something my kids will eat but I’ll probably find gag-worthy. Enter this sauce. We’ve made this no less than 10 times in the last month, and I have never, and I mean never, seen my kids gobble up anything so quickly. Embarrassingly, I have to admit, this sauce is even on the menu this week. Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce Note: I've only ever used 1% milk in this sauce and it works great for our tastes. Ingredients Directions In a medium pot or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Printed from Mel's Kitchen Cafe (www.melskitchencafe.com) Recipe Source: adapted from Sweet Pea Chef

Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis: An analysis of Crisis Communication within our Nation Jamie Long and Sean Swett April 28th, 2010 In October 1962, tensions were high between the United States and the Soviet Union because of the cold war. Review of Events In order to understand the Cuban Missile crisis, we must first take a look at what the factors leading up to the event were. After this failed invasion Castro developed some insecurities about the ability to defend the island country. A worry of the soviets of course was that the Soviet Union was behind the United States in both technology and first strike capability. Now we must take a look at the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis itself, in order to be able to explain the crisis communications used. But see, last Friday while I was on a 10-hour road trip heading for vacation, I received this recipe from a reader named Liz. Liz, I love you. That’s all I have to say. I was tortured by this recipe for a full 8 days before I could make it. So it was the first thing I made when I returned home. These are an absolute sin. I really don’t have any words, other than you must try them. They may also change your waistline too. But that’s okay. It’s all in the name of chocolate.
