GreyScale Congratulations to Michael Rinnan for winning the Five Second Project for March. His entry had a great concept and was outfitted with excellent lighting, atmosphere, camera movements and sound design. We wanted to know a little bit more about Michael’s entry, so we asked him a few questions regarding his workflow and the process for creating his winning piece. Where do you work? What is your title?
Justin McClure Creative Guardians of The Galaxy UI Reel Showreel covering Territory's UI concepts, design and animation for both on-set playback and VFX shots for Marvel Studio's 2014 blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy. territorystudio.com/work/motion/? ORA Prophecy - .work The Prophecy video is teaching via an abstract journey through an evolving space; a theoretical exploration of mankind’s black hole, and the dissonance created in a perfect void. It fluctuates with light and energy throughout the transmission as we are pulled down an endless tunnel, searching for our purpose as the Oracle narrates our inevitable future. Our journey is a unification of a hybrid of techniques, utilizing a mixture of CG-inspired facets of light shapes and digital objects meshed with practical, macro-photography of natural and chemical tunnel occurrences. Stock sourced clips that punctuate key moments in human history, mirrored by the voice-over, will shoot out from this central void. Coupled with heavily stylized live-action renderings of the ORACLE herself, we remind the viewer that this experience could be based in our world, and yet dictating a potential reality that we want to avoid.

Psynaptic Media Psynaps Ice Bucket Challenge Subscribe to Psynaps: Hope its not too late for the Psynaps Ice Bucket Challenge! <br Best Video Capture Software 2015 Subscribe to Psynaps: See the full Psynaps Livestream version here: The project Story of ButtleOFX It all started in 2007, when actors of a collaborative project which gathered post production companies and academic institutions brought up the idea of TuttleOFX, an open source modular and sustainable image processing architecture. Today, TuttleOFX is a growing software composed of an OpenFX plugin set (IO, color transformations, geometry, text burn, …) and a nodal engine usable in C++, in Python or directly in command lines. The desire to build a user interface based on TuttleOFX gradually increased and has been strengthened by a strong need of a simple but complete compositing solution for the VFX open source community. This is how in 2012, Fabien Castan, one of the funders of TuttleOFX, had the idea to propose ButtleOFX as a teaching project to the students of IMAC engineering school.

Victoria Nece This FAQ’s a bit out of date. Check out the new KinectToPin website for the latest version of the software and how to use it — it’s dramatically easier now. It’s been pretty incredible seeing KinectToPin generate interest all over the world, but I’ve also had a lot of feedback about how difficult and frustrating it is to get it working. One of my big priorities right now is to find ways to make that easier. But in the meantime, here’s some additional helpful information: Is this 3D/can I use it with Maya etc.?
