A Quick, Painless Tutorial on the Python Language Norman Matloff University of California, Davis June 17, 2008 ©2003-2008, N. Contents What Are Scripting Languages? Languages like C and C++ allow a programmer to write code at a very detailed level which has good execution speed (especially in the case of C). The term scripting language has never been formally defined, but here are the typical characteristics: Used often for system administration, Web programming, text processing, etc. Why Python? The first really popular scripting language was Perl. Advocates of Python, often called pythonistas, say that Python is so clear and so enjoyable to write in that one should use Python for all of one's programming work, not just for scripting work. Background Needed Anyone with even a bit of programming experience should find the material through Section 8 to be quite accessible. The material beginning with Section 10 will feel quite comfortable to anyone with background in an object-oriented programming (OOP) language such as C++ or Java. Approach

Organize your iPhoto library by batch changing titles and dates Posted by Ant on December 28th, 2008 | No Comments Most people (myself included) are guilty of connecting their digital camera to their Mac, quickly throwing the most recently taken images into iPhoto, and then going on their merry way. As easy as that is in the moment, it will come back to bite you later on as your unorganized library rapidly grows in size. Generally, when you import images to your iPhoto library the titles are automatically set to match the filenames assigned by your camera (something like P8240283.jpg) and the date taken may or may not be accurate. When you’re searching for pictures or putting folders, albums, and events together it’s just about impossible to work with those default settings. While changing your ways and taking more time to properly tag your photos as you import them will help in the future, it doesn’t do much to help clean up the mess you’ve already made. That’s where the convenience of iPhoto comes in.

stumbleupon There are several options when it comes to backing up a WordPress site. Depending on the type of access you have, retrieving the database or an XML backup is easy. But what if you don’t have access to the database or the backend? Consider the following scenario presented on the WordPress subreddit: A relative who used WordPress recently passed away and you have no way to access the backend of their site. Their site is filled with memorable posts you’d like to archive. One option is to use WGET. In the example below, I used four different parameters. HTML Extension – This will save the retrieved files as .HTMLConvert Links – After the download is complete, this will convert the links in the document to make them suitable for local viewing. wget –html-extension –convert-links -m -w 20 Using this command, each post and page will be saved as an HTML file. Keep in mind that this is saving the output of a post or page into an HTML file. Like this: Like Loading... Related

Amazing Mario Level - Cool - Funny Pictures, Funny Videos, Cool How to hide files in JPEG pictures If you’re looking to hide files on your PC hard drive, you may have read about ways to encrypt folders or change the attributes on a file so that they cannot be accessed by prying eyes. However, a lot of times hiding files or folders in that way requires that you install some sort of software on your computer, which could then be spotted by someone else. I’ve actually written quite a few articles on how you can hide files and folders in Windows XP and Vista before, but here I’m going to show you a new way to hide files that is very counter-intuitive and therefore pretty safe! Using a simple trick in Windows, you can actually hide a file inside of the JPG picture file! You can actually hide any type of file inside of an image file, including txt, exe, mp3, avi, or whatever else. Hide File in Picture In order to accomplish this task, you will need to have either WinZip or WinRAR installed on your computer. Create a folder on your hard drive, i.e. Now here’s the fun part!
