Dislessici famosi nella storia | AID Associazione Italiana Dislessia Cos'hanno i comune alcuni dei più famosi artisti, musicisti, scienziati, attori, politici, regnanti, e atleti mai esistiti nella storia? Oltre all'incommensurabile ed inestimabile contributo lasciato ai posteri, erano (o sono, per quelli ancora in vita) tutti affetti da dislessia. Chiaramente per alcuni di questi personaggi, poiché sono morti in epoche in cui ancora non si conosceva bene questo tipo di disturbo, non vi è la certezza assoluta che possano essere stati dei dislessici, ma vi sono molte prove a supporto di tale ipotesi. Ad ogni modo, anche se la dislessia crea difficoltà in certe aree per i bambini, gli studenti ed anche gli adulti, è frequente nei dislessici una coordinazione, un'empatia e uno spirito artistico al di sopra della media. Sembra infatti che la più grande barriera al successo sia la mancanza di fiducia in se stessi, dato il forte - a volte eccessivo - peso che si dà alla scrittura in età scolare.

The goals are deeper learning and authentic engagement, with an emphasis on turning learning over to the learner. However, making is the best college and career preparation that I have encountered, in part because it isn’t the core goal. Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland, Calif., where I work, serves students from low-income communities. It’s hard to imagine yourself doing something when you haven’t seen or experienced it. As they engage in these areas at school, they start to see themselves in these fields. A year later, we added more diversity (woodworking, sewing, physical-computing and design) to this class and opened the doors even wider. So, exposure to what is possible is one way in which maker education prepares students for college and career. Two years ago, one of my students, Katia, saw a visually-impaired person almost walk in front of a car.
