Bing Webmaster Tools Adds Markup Validator The Bing Webmaster Blog announced they have added a new feature to the crawl section named Markup Validator. To access this new feature, login to Bing Webmaster Tools and click on the “Crawl” tab. Then on the right side or bottom left side there is an option to click on “Markup Validator.” Duane from Bing said that while not all code validation issues have an impact on your web page from loading or rankings, “having the syntax incorrect can affect our ability to use the data as you intend.” The tool scans for: Here is what the results can look like:

Free Typographic XHTML/CSS-Layouts For Your Designs Advertisement In May we announced the Typographic Layout Design Contest that aimed to collect beautiful typographic (X)HTML+CSS-based layouts created by the design community and release them for free as a gift for the web design community. The response was overwhelming and we really had a hard time going through the designs, analyzing them and deciding which templates deserve the awards. Unfortunately, many templates were just copies of the current designer’s blog and some weren’t related to typography at all. So in the end many templates didn’t make it to this post. Under Threat Of Being Blocked Google, Facebook Comply With India's New Internet Censorship Rules After China and the US, India is the third largest internet market in the world. But India has philosophically aligned itself more with China in pursuing a policy of censorship toward publication of content deemed “offensive” or “objectionable” by individuals, groups or the government. A recently enacted law seeks to remove all such content from the internet in India. Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft were sued under the law and had been arguing in Indian court that it was all but impossible for them to comply as a practical matter. The law makes online publishers potentially liable for the acts of individual users and third parties (think “offensive” blog hosted on Blogger or “objectionable” video uploaded to YouTube). According to a BBC report Indian Communications Minister Kapil Sibal said the following in December about the desired impact of the new law:
