Dog Plays With His Dolphin Friend... Every Day

Video goodness: Dog rides tortoise We're not sure which animal we love more -- Hope, the adventurous (or lazy, depending upon how you look at things) dog, or Carl, who we suspect may be the most good-natured tortoise ever born. We suppose we'll just have to call it a tie. Though we're not entirely sure how we feel about YouTube user davidbeier's assertion that "God is using our much loved puppy named Hope to bring you this gospel, or good news," we appreciate the sentiment, nonetheless. (We have a hunch -- just a hunch -- that God has more important business to attend to than inspiring dogs to ride tortoises. This fascinating and odd video has made the Internet rounds, but our favorite comment so far has to be from CuteOverload reader Jerilyn, who writes, "Is this a new take on the Tortoise and the Hare? "Hop aboard the tortoise ferry for the win" ... now that's a motto we can get behind. -- Lindsay Barnett Video: davidbeier via YouTube

Deadly Leopard Seal Tries to Feed Live Penguins to Photographer (Video) "Bloody Hell! That's the biggest leopard seal I've ever seen!" Leopard seals are pretty scary predators, especially if you're a penguin. But they can be friendly to other leopard seals, which is something that photographer Paul Nicklen learned during one of his trips to Antarctica. He was taking underwater photos when a leopard seal started feeding him penguins, starting with live ones, which were released close to him (to see if he would catch them), and ending with half-chewed dead ones. One theory is that the leopard seal saw his reflection in the lens of the camera and thought that Nicklen was a fellow predator, but an awkward one in need of some help. The Seal Saw Him as a Useless Predator Here's is a video of Nicklen explaining what happened, with many incredible photos. For more photos by Paul Nicklen, check out his website.
