New York-Style Bagel Recipe

New York-Style Bagel Recipe
This is the story of an amazing New York-Style Bagel Recipe. But it doesn’t just start there. It began with food blogger’s block (writer’s block, but for food bloggers)… The most frustrating thing for any food blogger. Many of us will not admit that we sometimes get it, but I find no problem with admitting that I occasionally get food blogger’s block. Why? Well, because I am far from perfect and showing small imperfections makes me normal. Well, I am not *that* normal. Okay… Exaggerating a bit… But I seriously do bake a bit too much… This past weekend, I decided that I was going to use all of the baking energy that I built up over the past couple of weeks to create some edible masterpieces to share with you all. The first edible masterpiece (I love how I call bagels edible masterpieces…) that I decided to share (out of the billion things that I baked) is an awesome bagel recipe that I found in a new cookbook that I recently “borrowed” from my aunt, Ultimate Bread. Why? Preparation: 1. 2.

Secret Love Notes Envelope Pillow Cover Tutorial I’m finally back at my sewing machine and it feels great! Last week I shared how to make your own pillow forms or pillow inserts. Making your own is so much cheaper than purchasing them, and it’s easier than you probably imagine. You may even already have the materials in your craft stash to whip them up. After you’ve made the pillow forms, then the pillow cover possibilities are endless. Like this Secret Love Notes Envelope Pillow Cover– shhh….it has a secret hiding pocket for leaving little notes or cards for that special Valentine. Gormandize: Myanmar The first dish I'm sharing for Burmese food month is Ohn No Khao Swe, one of the countries most common and popular dishes. It's traditionally made with chicken, but I've substitited another Burmese food staple, chickpea tofu. I made my own chickpea tofu according to this recipe from a blog called Girl Eats World.

If you’re in the same boat, here are The Web’s Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches that you can cook up and enjoy too. Sweet Hot Mustard and Jarlsberg Grilled Cheese

Lazy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars The day these Lazy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars were created it was raining outside and all I wanted to do was relax after a long day of work. Instead I divided my time between the couch and the kitchen because I wasn’t going down without a sweet-tooth fix that night. What happens when you take homemade oatmeal cookies and the best chocolate chip cookies and mix them together? You get an amazing oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. But, you’re not in the mood to scoop, roll and press cookies because you want to spend your evening in front of the television watching your favourite movie cuddled with a blanket, glass of milk and something sweet. Time to get lazy in the kitchen and I don’t mean open a bag of Oreos and retire to the couch.

Gormandize: United Kingdom You can't really go wrong with raspberries and whipped cream, right? But I'll tell you what you can do - make it even better! What could be a better addition than whiskey, toasted oats and almonds? Oh, and some more whiskey on top :) This is a vegan version of a Scottish dessert called Cranachan, with some personal touches. There are two options on how to finish it off, you can use the whiskey syrup (below), or if you are a real hardcore whiskey fan you can just drizzle a teaspoon of straight whiskey over the top (although, this gives it rather a kick!). I tried both and I did prefer to use the whiskey syrup.

Banana Cake with Nutella and Cream Cheese Frosting November 6th, 2011 I have a confession to make. With this brilliant Indian Summer we’ve had, I’ve missed one thing, and it’s truly a surprise: cold, rainy, windy days. Remind me to read this post in a few weeks, when I am drowning in misery. Homemade Ciabatta Bread {And The Best Garlic Bread On Earth} What is ciabatta bread and why on earth should you make your own? Excellent questions… First of all, ciabatta is an Italian bread that is long and flat-ish, somewhat in the shape of a slipper (which is what the word “ciabatta” literally translates to). It is slightly crispy on the outside with a deliciously tender and airy crumb. I can personally eat an entire loaf myself, that’s how much I love the almighty ciabatta. Now why should you make it yourself?

Gormandize: Italian Like every other Australian kid, I grew up eating a lot of spaghetti bolognese. It's so commonly cooked in Australian homes that it's practically a national dish. Nobody in my family was vegetarian or vegan at the time, but my father used to switch around between making our bolognese with meat or with nutmeat. Even as a kid, I loved the nutmeat one more than the meaty one. When I grew up I learnt to cook it for myself and made it often. I introduced it to my Italian best friend and even he loved it more than the meat version.
