Check it out at As I've done research on APIs for Designing Hypermedia APIs, I've become increasingly interested in different styles of API. You may find this amusing if you've read some of the literature on the topic, but I've created this list in a top-down way: APIs as black boxes, rather than coming up with different aspects of an API and categorizing them based on that. If you have an API that doesn't fit into one of these categories, I'd love to hear about it. Synopsis: Provide simple data through a simple GET/POST request. Examples: Description: Simple data is made available via an HTTP GET or POST request. These API are technically a sub-type of *-RPC, but I feel that their lack of business process makes them feel different. Remote procedure call; call a function over the web. Similiar to how structured programming is built around functions, so is RPC. WS-* (or SOAP)

Un site web de location de voitures entre particuliers qui donne la possibilité à toutes personnes de louer sa voiture ou de trouver une voiture en location près de chez lui. Le concept derrière Cityzencar vient du fait que de très nombreuses personnes possèdent une voiture alors même qu’ils l’utilisent en moyenne moins d’une heure par jour. D’un autre côté, certaines personnes auraient ponctuellement (ou même régulièrement) besoin d’un véhicule sans sauter le pas pour en acheter un. SebDeclercq/Bookmarks-manager - GitHub | Pearltrees to SqlLite Waze Brings Crowdsourced Social Traffic Data To Local Broadcast Stations Social mapping and navigation company Waze is partnering with 12 local broadcast stations including KGO-TV San Francisco, KABC Los Angeles, WFAA Dallas, and WPVI-TV Philadelphia, to bring its citizen-traffic reporting platform mainstream. Founded in 2009, Waze offers free apps for the iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry and other mobile platforms, that include turn-by-turn navigation for drivers, and at the same time, uses that user data to build out its own maps. If there are issues on the road, such as major traffic jams, all of that information comes in through the apps and can be sent to other drivers. The apps rely on crowdsourced data, from driver-created maps, to citizen traffic reports, to community-curated points of interest. On average, Waze users are reporting a traffic jam every 4.2 second, and an accident every 44 seconds. With millions of users, that’s a massive amount of data.
