Atlantis Remixed

Atlantis Remixed
In the Drakos Unit, players are tasked with breeding a species of dragonfly that is unique to Atlantis. To do this, they must understand genetics and how traits are passed from parents to offspring. Players also confront their own sense of morality as they determine whether gene splicing to produce a particular type of drakos is ethical. Click here to read more. Based on Ayn Rand's, The Fountainhead, the Architecture/Media Unit allows students to interact with characters at an architecture firm that match the names, physical characteristics, motivations and points of view of characters from Rand's classic novel, putting users in the middle of the same conflicts and themes from the story; however, unlike Rand's story, Questers are presented with the perspectives of characters on both sides of the conflict—eventually forcing the player to align themselves with a particular architectural firm.

Success Begins with Effective Design When I started doing project-based learning with my students, I noticed two immediate changes in my classroom. First, my students were far more interested in doing projects based on the content we were learning than they were in simply listening to me give a lecture on the topic. Second, attendance went up and classroom problems went down. These factors contributed to a higher degree of interest and involvement in what we were learning than I had ever had before. Our first projects were simple and not very technically oriented. The students quickly learned that planning was the most critical part of the project process.

Cable in the Classroom: Educational Programs for Teachers By Trent Crawford Cable TV programs offer a wide variety of educational outlets for teachers in this day and age. From educational TV shows, websites and interactive multimedia, there is much to choose from. Create your own Interactive Fiction What is Interactive Fiction? Interactive Fiction (formerly referred to as Text Adventures) are a cross between reading a book and playing a game, where you control the main character. Rather than reading the story from start to finish, you interact with everything by typing commands at a prompt, discovering things as you go along. Well written games give you, the player, the impression that anything you type is understood by giving a sensible and meaningful response. Indeed, part of the fun of playing interactive fiction games is discovering responses to things you didn't expect to have been catered for. Most interactive fiction follows the same basic rules - these include walking from location to location using compass directions (north, east, south-west etc).
