”Filter är inte lösningen!” Tidningen Expressen publicerade den 12 januari i år en debattartikel med rubriken och kravet ”Inför porrfilter i alla skolor och förskolor”. Flera politiska partier har anslutit sig till kravet. Vi arbetar med utbildning och ungas personliga säkerhet på nätet och ser med oro på dessa krav. De mer centrala argument som finns mot att införa filter på skolornas datorer kan sammanfattas med att filter är en teknisk lösning med uppenbara begränsningar som skapar en falsk trygghet, när fokus istället borde vara att ge barnen det stöd de behöver för att hantera vad de möter på nätet. Det finns mycket innehåll på nätet och sociala medier som kan verka skrämmande och obehagligt för både barn och vuxna. Några av de företeelser som barn själva uppger kan vara otäckt att möta är: barn som far illa, djur som lider, krig och konflikt, miljöförstöring och sexuella hot eller kränkningar, enligt Statens medieråds studie Ungar & Medier 2017. Att filter inte fungerar borde egentligen räcka som argument.
