Interview: Gorgeous Pastel Portraits by Emma Uber Artist Emma Uber has an incredible knack for paintings faces. Her series of pastel portraits involves beautifully detailed—and mainly feminine—faces that blend into backgrounds filled with thick, vibrant strokes, drips and smears of paint, and bursts of colorful shapes and flowers. Her use of a strong color palette and aggressive strokes, set against the soft features and expressionless faces, sparks an intense curiosity about each of her subjects. Currently living in Australia, Uber doesn’t write much about herself on her website but we were lucky to get in contact with the artist and she was kind enough to answer some of our questions. Can you please give us a brief background of yourself? What inspired you to create the portraits set? I attempted a colorful self-portrait just to get out of my comfort zone and it grew from there. I notice you paint a lot of women. What words of inspiration can you offer to other artists out there? Emma Uber’s website

Disney Princesses As Tattooed Pinup Girls One would think that the “Disney Princesses Reimagined” collections have reached the end of their run, but artists like Tim Shumate continue to prove that there is still more to be done with the iconic characters in his Disney Princesses as Tattooed Pinup Girls. In his latest series, the talented artist digitally painted a handful of our favorite princesses from the world of Disney as tattooed pinup girls. They also happen to be done in a tattoo like format for those of you that want a little piece of Disney history permanently stamped on your body. The series includes the likes of Belle, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Tiana, Tinker Bell, and a few others. You can get any of the pieces below as prints, shirts, or even iPhone cases from Tim’s Society6 online store.
