Home » Retronaut Geology in the Parks Rocks are all around us. They make up the backbones of hills and mountains and the foundations of plains and valleys. Beneath the soil you walk on and the deep layers of soft mud that cover the ocean basins is a basement of hard rock. What are rocks made of? Rocks are made up mostly of crystals of different kinds of minerals, or broken pieces of crystals, or broken pieces of rocks. Some rocks are made of the shells of once-living animals, or of compressed pieces of plants. We can learn something about the way a rock formed from by looking carefully at the evidence preserved inside. Where do rocks come from? Rocks are divided into three basic types, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic , depending upon how they were formed. Igneous rocks Igneous rocks (from the Greek word for fire) form from when hot, molten rock (magma) crystallizes and solidifies. cufón - fonts for the people בא במייל -מפת השנתיים למדינת ישראל אגב, שם המדינה "ישראל" נרשם במפוזר לאורך כל המדינה. דומני שזו סופה של השיטה ששם המדינה נרשם כמו באטלסים, על תחומי המדינה, ולא רק ככותרת בראש הגליון. אבל העיקר במפה זו הם העיטורים, הציורים שמקיפים את המפה משני צדדיה ונראה שמטרתם היא להבהיר "יש לנו מדינה!". שוחחתי לאחרונה עם שאול שפירא, בנו של ד"ר יוסף שפירא, מו"ל המפה. שאול סיפר שהאמן-הצייר היה בעצם פסל בשם מיכאל קארה - Kara, ואכן שמו רשום בראש המפה, בפינה השמאלית. מיכאל קארה גדל ולמד בבודפשט, והתפרסם כפסל. הציור המרכזי נקבע בצד שמאל למעלה, בשטח הרחב של הים התיכון. 7 Useful YouTube Channels for History Teachers One of my favorite things about Netflix streaming is that I can watch some great history documentaries on my laptop or tablet. As much as I enjoy a good documentary I also know that not everyone does. I also know that many students get bored by documentaries very quickly. On the other hand, short video clips can be helpful to help teachers illustrate a point or present a point in a different manner. If you're a history teacher, particularly a U.S. History teacher, here are seven YouTube channels where you can find some good short video clips to use in your lessons. Hip Hughes History is a channel that Greg Kulowiec shared on Twitter a couple of weeks ago. Dizzo95 is the first YouTube channel that came to mind when I started to build this list. The U.S. World History & Other Stuff contains just what the title implies. The Smithsonian has many channels on YouTube.
