Tie Dye T-Shirts with Sharpie Markers! It was Red Ribbon week at my daughter's school this week and their first dress up day was tie dye t-shirts and wouldn't you know she didn't have anything tie dye in her closet. So we decided to do a little art project together and make something with what we had on hand. I have seen several different examples and directions for this on the internet so we took what we found from various searches and modified it just a little bit. Here's what you'll need and the steps we followed: Pre-washed white or light colored t-shirt (cotton takes color great)Rubbing Alcohol (Note: mine was 91%. If there’s a fun fabric around and I can make it wearable, in garment form, in an hour or less, I’m going to go for it. This weekend I found some fun printed upholstery fabrics at my local shop that suggested immediate and simple fashions with barely any effort required. There’s no garment more simple to sew than an elastic-waisted skirt, and I’ve found that if I skip the casing and buy elastic that can serve as a waistband, unattended, I can simplify the “simple” even farther.

After many years the stains and tears were too large and numerous to be covered with a strategically placed platter, but it was too special to just throw out. So it became this top. I designed the top around the lace of the tablecloth, keeping as much intact as possible.

MADE: TUTORIAL: the Circle Skirt I used to think that a gathered skirt was the easiest skirt to sew. But I may have changed my tune. A circle skirt is possibly even easier!….especially if you leave the elastic exposed.
