A fireplace gas insert is a great way to turn your existing masonry fireplace into a zone heater. An open fireplace that burns wood is about 12% efficient. Putting in a vented gas log set brings the efficiency to about 25% – 30%. With a direct-vent gas insert installed into the same fireplace the efficiency is increased to 70% to 85%! All direct vent gas inserts have a fixed piece of glass in front of the fire in order for them to function and provide additional radiant heat. The chimney venting system consists of two 3” pipes that run from the insert to the top of your chimney. Modern or traditional looking, the choices for a heating fireplace gas insert are many. Fatigue Analysis - Re:Test
Fatigue damage occurs when a component or assembly is subjected to a varying load sequence. Over time, microscopic plasticity in notches, rough surfaces, voids or welds can cause a fatigue crack to form and grow. The crack continues to grow until the cross sectional area of the structure is no longer able to support the load, and there is catastrophic failure. Fatigue can be divided into two main categories: Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) for shorter lives and High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) for structures that survive longer. For Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) applications, strain-based fatigue analysis is necessary. Through our fatigue analysis services, we are able to calculate fatigue and perform life prediction using stress or strain methods directly from your 3D CAD models.
