Sweet and sour drinks

wednes-diy UPDATE: This post originally ran on March 23 2011, but with summer winding down we wanted to bring it back up for some late summer inspiration! a fellow fp girl sent this to me a couple weeks back and i’ve been thinking about it ever since! i can think of a million reasons why these would be awesome… as apartment décor, as outdoor party décor, and – wouldn’t they be the best thing EVER for camping in general or at a festival? just let them sit in the sun all day, and they’ll last all night! i am absolutely going to make some to bring with me to bonnaroo this year. you can buy a sun jar here, but you can make your own for much cheaper! what you need: a mason jar with a clear glass lid like this one from ikea, a solar garden light like the ones pictured above, which i found here, adhesive and glass frosting spray. start by spraying the inside of the jar with the frosting spray – this will help diffuse the light and give it a warm glow. don’t spray the lid though! last image.

What Shoes to Wear With a Polka Dot Dress The style of dress is crucial in deciding which shoe to wear. Pair your dress with shoes from the same era. With a fifties-style dress, try a pair of simple, high-heeled pumps with an ankle strap. A dress that was new in the eighties will look just right with a kitten-heel granny boot. Round-toe pumps with a chunky heel would be perfect with a thirties- or forties-style dress. The lines of the dress are important as well.

Alcoholic Pudding Shots When it comes to alcoholic solids, it seems that folks generally find Jello Shots to be king. Few ever really consider the alternative: Pudding. Pudding can be just as amazing at a party, and the best part is that no one ever expects it. Therefore, to have pudding shots at your party would pretty much instantly land you in the party hall-of-fame if, of course, the rest of your party was awesome to match. 1 3oz pack of JELL-O pudding (flavor combinations will be discussed later) 1 cup Chilled Milk 1/2 cup alcohol mixture 1 cup Cool-Whip, OR Additional Flavorless Gelatin ( Knox Brand ) Clear Plastic Cups (8 or 9oz. are best) Whipped Cream Spoons Mix together Milk and alcohol mixture Mix Milk and Alcohol mixture into pudding mix until it begins to thicken Refrigerate for additional thickness. Death By Oreo Cupcakes They are probably the best Oreo cakes I have ever tried. A lot of cake's that I have experimented with before are like a vanilla cake with bits of Oreo in them, which didn't really give them enough Oreo flavor. But these were a lot better. I used a dark chocolate fudge cake mix instead of just a regular chocolate cake mix, which went really well with the cookies and gave the cakes just a little more flavor. So, in this recipe there is Oreo's in the cake, in the frosting, and at the bottom is a Oreo surprise. Ingredients 1 package Oreo Cookies, regular size 1 package Mini Oreo Cookies, for decoration (optional) 1 package chocolate cake mix (mix according to directions on box) 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), room temperature 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract cupcake liners Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter and cream cheese. foodsnots.com

Light it Up with Flaming Strawberries for National Margarita Day! By Ole & Shaina Olmanson | February 22nd, 2011: National Margarita Day! Will you be celebrating this evening with a margarita or two? It seems odd that the day for celebrating margaritas comes in the middle of winter, but if you’re looking to escape from the cold and look towards spring and the sweltering days of summer, now is the perfect time to blend up your favorite drink. While you’re at it, why don’t you add a bit of show and flashiness to the party with a flaming strawberry to top it off? A few weeks ago I was amazed at the genius of Heather from Sprinkle Bakes . Family Takes Pictures of Brother's Room by Alanna Bennett | 11:54 am, August 16th, 2011 We at The Mary Sue represent sisters both eldest and youngest. Which is, in part, why we love this story so much. Because this kid, Brandon, went to summer camp for four weeks. His last words to his sister were “stay out of my room.” Follow the jump for highlights from the gallery of pictures from Brandon’s room. “My, what a spacious room you have bran! “…yet intimate enough to be used as a cozy nightclub.” The grandparents took a…siesta…in there, too, while he was gone. Dwight made an appearance. They celebrated Christmas without him. Some battles for intergalactic peace were fought. As well as some long-deserved Pac-Man revenge. Also, some gypsies came to stay, and they brought some lederhosen. Toy Story happened.

The Web’s Best Manly Margaritas On the scale of manly drinks, margaritas aren’t exactly on the same level as ordering a whiskey neat. Of course, they aren’t Bahama breezes or strawberry daiquiris either. Floating in this middle ground somewhere, they are open to a lot of experimentation. Here are some recipes for awesome ones that fall on the manlier side of the divide. Spicy Margarita Muddled peppers and cilantro give this cocktail its apt title. Tamarind Margarita This drink is powered by tamarind puree and tequila. The Sweaty Hipster With the chile salt lined rim and the serrano infused simple syrup, this has a lot that could make any mustache-clad hipster sweat through his tank top. Roasted Grape Margarita Fruity flavors are usually reserved for screaming bachelorette parties, but this grape drink is perfectly suited for the man who eats raw steak with his bare hands. Smoky Watermelon-Jalapeno Margarita Outside of rimming our cup with pulled pork, we can’t think of a more masculine way than with hickory smoked salt.

Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread How do you make bread even better? You stuff it with pepperoni and cheese. Then, you bake it in a bundt pan that allows you to pull off little chunks and dip them in pizza sauce. This bread takes a little bit of time to prepare, but in about half an hour I had filled my bundt pan with little dough balls, each with a piece of pepperoni and cheese stuffed within it. My new definition of bliss: warm dough with a cheesy center and a bite of pepperoni. Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Breadfrom Confections of a Foodie BrideIngredients: -2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced -4 tbsp butter -2 lbs pizza dough (I used 2 balls of Trader Joe's fresh dough) -6 oz. mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes (about 48 pieces) -pepperoni (about 48 slices) -2-3 cups marinara sauce for serving Directions: 1. 3. 4. Bacon Pineapple Jalapeno Margaritas Bacon, pineapple and jalapeno. This flavor combo was introduced to me by Rich and Kim as a pizza topping, and quickly became one of my favorite tastes. I have since made countless pizzas, and even ravioli and wontons with it. Since I was juicing the pineapple, I didn't need to worry about getting all the bark off. In the processor with seeded jalapeno. I let this mix strain out for awhile so I could collect the juice. Making bacon salt. This bacon salt was awesome. Make sure to shake the drink like crazy to get some nice foam. The whole jalapeno makes a fun garnish. These weren't very spicy, but they had a slight kick in the background. To make the bacon salt, toss about 4 slices of cooked bacon in the food processor with about 3 tablespoons of salt. Then I juiced a pineapple and 2 seeded jalapenos.

How to Make Clothing Buttons from Shrink Plastic… This tutorial is an old one of mine that’s too good not to share again. Since posting the first time, I’ve had lots of questions about these buttons which will hopefully be answered in this revised post. Equipment Some handy notes: 1. single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Shrink Paper {here} Circle Punch {here} Hole punch {here} Pens {here} Update: I’ve made a video to show how to shrink the buttons using a craft embellishment heat gun. Kimanh Hi my name's Kimanh.
