13930332 My halloween costume this year featured handmade angel wings . . . Every year I think extensively about the halloween costume I want to make. This year I was an angel & I made the wings from scratch. I started out with some thrift store knitting needles that I covered in wire & hot glue for the "frame". Then I cut pieces of cardboard and used pieces of wire like twist-ties to kind of sew them together. ! That's all! Happy halloween ! there's more at my blog if you're interested. : ) Lovely Spaces – Craft room (Part 2) Hello my lovely readers! This past weekend was so crazy! 30 Easy And Cuddly DIY Ideas For Recycling Old Sweaters How To Mix Chalkboard Paint in Any Color We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success. Here's how you too can create your own chalkboard paint... Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!) 1. 2. Once your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it for the first time. Have fun creating any color combination you like!!

Julie Ann Art $5 Mobile Phone Projector The folks at Photojojo just posted a neat low-tech tutorial on how to make a projector for your mobile phone using a shoebox, a paperclip, and a magnifying glass. MacGyver would be proud. They were able to find the magnifying glass at a dollar store for, well, a dollar (so they called it the $1 projector), but let’s just call it $5 before people get up in arms because they can’t find that screaming deal. Basically, you start by cutting a hole out of one side of the shoebox to match your magnifying glass and taping the glass on the box. Then you make an iPhone holder from a paperclip, flip the screen display on your phone (to account for how images passed through a lens get flipped), position your phone inside the box (playing with placement until you get the clearest image), put the box top back on, turn the room lights down low and the brightness on your phone up high, and revel in your resourcefulness. Now, I started this for yogurt and granola- but with this gadget the possibilities are endless! I just can’t get over how cute, useful and portable these are! Anyway, enough ranting about the jars, here’s how its done! You Will Need: 2 same mouthed mason jars. How To Make It: Take off the rings to your jars. That’s it!! One of my favorite things about this project is the lack of garbage in my lunch box. The 8oz wide mouthed jars are very bowl-like. And, as promised a PDF for you to download and print to use with your schmancy new jars. I’m so happy to have shared my project with you.
