Moving From 'Acceptable' to 'Responsible' Use in a Web 2.0 World Published Online: July 20, 2011 Commentary By Jim Bosco & Keith Krueger In just a few years, mobile phones and Web 2.0 collaborative and participatory applications have become a pervasive feature of modern life. They are woven into how we conduct business, produce and disseminate knowledge, participate in civic life, and engage socially. Yet, in many school districts, Web 2.0 and mobile technologies are largely viewed as inappropriate and are banned or severely restricted.

Why I'm Not a Vegan On my recent book tour, I spoke with a number of people about my take on a positive direction for the American diet. I’ve been semi-vegan for six years and in the book (called “VB6,” for Vegan Before 6 p.m. [1] ), I argue that this strategy, or one like it, can move us toward better health. In the last 30 years, researchers have graduated from the notion that Americans should “eat less fat, especially saturated fat” — the catchphrase of ’80s nutritionists [2] — to widespread agreement that we eat too few unprocessed plants and too much hyperprocessed food, especially food containing sugar and those carbohydrates that our bodies convert rapidly to sugar. There is also compelling evidence that we eat too many animal products (something like 600 pounds per person per year) and too much salt. None of this is simple. And for another, salt and sugar are necessary parts of a sound diet, but so much of each is added to processed food that we’re getting way too much of both.

Don't Let Your Career Get Stale: 6 Ways to Refresh and Recharge in Share 2 Spring cleaning has come and gone, and your home may (or may not) be a bit tidier because of it. But what about your career? Making it Funny: 8 Hilarious Infographics Humor is a fickle thing. One person’s laugh-out-loud joke is another person’s head-scratcher. Some people strive for the perfect pun, while others would rather choke on their punini, pun fried noodles, or pun seared scallops than debase themselves with wordplay. What makes a kid laugh uproariously may make an adult groan, and what makes an atheist giggle with glee may make a fundamentalist cringe.

The Pros to Being a Psychopath When most of us hear the word “psychopath,” we imagine Hannibal Lecter. Kevin Dutton would prefer that we think of brain surgeons, CEOs and Buddhist monks. In his new book, The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success, the Oxford research psychologist argues that psychopathic personality traits—charm, confidence, ruthlessness, coolness under pressure—can, in the right doses, be a good thing.
