Humanae (work in progress) — Angélica Dass Humanæ is a “work in progress” by the Brazilian Angélica Dass, who intends to deploy a chromatic range of the different human skin colors. Those who pose are volunteers who have known the project and decide to participate. There is no previous selection of participants and there are no classifications relating to nationality, gender, age, race, social class or religion. Nor is there an explicit intention to finish it on a specific date. It is open in all senses and it will include all those who want to be part of this colossal global mosaic. The only limit would be reached by completing all of the world’s population. A photographic taxonomy of these proportions has been rarely undertaken; those who preceded Angélica Dass were characters of the 19th century that, for various reasons - legal, medical, administrative, or anthropological - used photographs to establish different types of social control of the power. The spectator is invited to press the share button in his brain.

CrimeLab | PUTTING BRANDS IN THE SPOTLIGHT Why a new wave of independent magazines are thriving If you believe what you read, the print media has been on its deathbed ever since the birth of the internet. But someone forgot to tell the creatives behind the latest wave of independent magazines. There seems to be a new launch looking for funding on Kickstarter every week, and the sector is booming: last year the independent-magazine subscription service Stack reported a 78 per cent increase in revenue, with its number of subscribers growing by 76 per cent. Most of the magazines are launched by people looking to explore a tiny corner of interest in a new way. “We felt there was a growing movement for well-crafted products and a holistic lifestyle, but there was nothing out there reflecting the scene in the way we do,” Sam Walton of Hole & Corner explains. This is a sentiment echoed by everyone behind the magazines profiled here. The magazine Intern, put together by young people fed up with work experience, and Hole&Corner, a luxury craft magazine

About / United Visual Artists UVA is a London based art practice that combines a wide range of disciplines including sculpture, installation, live performance, and architecture. The studio has an open approach to collaboration, uniting diverse skills to continuously evolve new technologies and materials, which in turn suggest new artistic directions. The studio’s lines of enquiry include the tension between real and synthesised experiences – the questioning of our relationship with technology, and the creation of phenomena that transcend the purely physical. UVA have been commissioned by Artwise Curators, The Creators Project, La Gaite Lyrique, National Maritime Museum, Opera North, Royal Academy of Arts, Victoria & Albert Museum, Manchester International Festival, The Serpentine Gallery, Barbican and YCAM Japan. Their designs for live performance have led to commissions for venues such as the Tate Modern Turbine Hall, Serpentine Gallery and Madison Square Garden in New York.

Augmented Reality app makes movie posters come alive AR-Code is a free cross-media mobile app that helps people bring printed material or physical objects to life, connecting them with interactive digital experiences via Augmented Reality. It was developed by Italian ‘digital craft house’ Seac02, known as one the world’s best Augmented Reality software and solution companies. Partnering with brands, artists and products, they offer a multimedia library called AR-Code Store. Here, users can browse different categories such as Automotive, Food, Arts, Entertainment or Fashion. They just have to download and print an image from the library to discover more. They can then point their iOS or Android device at the image to enjoy the augmented content (such as a video, a sound effect, a game or a piece of information) that appears on the screen. In 2013, AR-Code added a great new service to their existing offerings, called Moviescanner. This on-demand service has completely transformed the way we look for information about movies.
