Blooms and iPad Applications

Blooms and iPad Applications
I just got tweeted a nice diagram showing iPad applications against different levels of Bloom’s revised taxonomy. Its a good and well considered diagram and I like it. Some applications there that I haven’t seen yet and I will have to look up. The only thing I would say is that the applications are just the medium in which the student demonstrates the level. They facilitate the cognitive action. – This is NOT a criticism, rather a statement from me and one I know that Kathy Schrock has definitely taken into account. I know a number of people who have questioned whether tools like animoto should be included because it can be so easy, but the reality is yes you can “throw” music and images at Animoto and get a good product. Tools like Pages and Touch Draw can be used across the taxonomic levels depending on the task and purpose. Nice work and thanks for sharing

Created by Allan Carrington , this thing is a monster and deserves some focused attention. So I’d make a personal plea to save the hi-res image (below) or print out the PDF ( available here ) and then spend your long weekend closely examining this thing. The Padagogy Wheel takes an expanded approach Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy and offers 62 iPad apps that fit into the organized chaos that is Bloom’s.

10 extremely awesome iPad tips and tricks As you're most likely aware of, there are some default apps on the iPad that are there to stay. They can't be deleted, but they can all be moved into a group... that is, all but one: Newsstand. Yes, this annoying app (to me, at least) is never used by many iPad users, yet Apple's made it such that you cannot delete it or even put it in a group. Fortunately, there's a bit of a workaround for placing it in a group, though doing as such will make Newsstand lose functionality until removing it from the group (which doesn't matter, because you want it gone in the first place). Here's what you do:

Saw something similar to this on Kathy Schrock's page, but this one looks more up-to-date and extensive. Thanks! by virginiap Feb 22
