Designing A Website from Scratch – Illustrator or Photoshop? - Graphic Design Beta - Stack Exchange I've got to disagree with DA01. The fact that a web document isn't a static image is irrelevant to the usefulness of a graphics editor for laying out and designing a website. Your design mockup doesn't need (and shouldn't) be a working prototype of your website. The design mockup is a document that helps you visualize and sculpt the aesthetic design of your site. Just because a sheet of paper or whiteboard doesn't have all the minute qualities of a web document doesn't mean it can't be used to wireframe a website. Likewise, the fact that the browser window can be stretched and resized has no bearing on the value of design mockups.

Wireframe Magnets (DIY Kit) About This DIY magnet template is based on the Konigi wireframe stencils and includes 3 sheets of elements that might be useful in whiteboard prototyping. Simply download and print the PDFs onto magnet sheets, optionally laminate them if you intend to use with dry-erase markers, and finally cut them out. What Your Web Design Says About You (Infographic) Font and color choices in a website say certain things about the owner of the site. Though colors and symbols may have different meanings in other cultures, this only reaffirms the notion that design choices do affect the perception of the user, which in turn affects the message attempting to be conveyed. Here is an infographic that delves into the meanings of fonts and colors in the context of web design. Click to enlarge. Related Content About the Author

Create an Advanced Contact Form for Client Inquiries Most web designers rely on inquiries from their portfolio website to produce a decent portion of their business. Contact forms can be very simple, collecting a name and contact information, or they can be much more detailed, providing enough information to get an estimate. While the primary purpose of the contact form on our website has always been to make it easy for potential clients to contact us about web design projects, there are also a number of other reasons that visitors use the contact form and a one-size-fits-all approach has its drawbacks. We recently changed the contact form to include some conditional fields that make the form more customized according to the reason the visitor is contacting us, and in this post we’ll go through the process of creating this type of form. In the past our contact form has included a field to allow visitors to select a budget, but that was based on the assumption that they were contacting us regarding web design services. Inserting the Form:
