ListenAndReadAlong Reading English really can be a "world of utmost joy without suffering". That is a comment of one of our Buddhist readers. Our Reading Movies(Rovies) try to make reading an utmost joy without suffering, or at least tolerable without suffering. We're kinda like the "Johnny Appleseed" of reading.

Story Line Online is a wonderful read-aloud tool. There are many books to choose from that are then read aloud by different actors to help with fluency. As the actor reads, the students will be able to follow along with the pages of the book. Your computer must have Macromedia Flash Player to view the movies. This website is excellent for early elementary and ESL students who need to listen to word pronunciation. Teaching tips: • Discuss with the students whether or not the actor did a good job reading a certain book. Talk about voice and tone. • Distribute an activity sheet for small groups to fill out while listening to the stories read aloud. • Create a large group discussion of the main points in the activity sheet to have constructive feedback on the books they have listened to. by jinan84 Oct 24

This website, Storyline Online, contains videos of members of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation reading aloud some of the most entertaining and popular children’s books. The wonderful sound quality and illustration animations really make the books come alive. by katherineking2 Mar 19

I recall seeing this website during one of our class lectures, and I thought it was a great tool for providing examples of fluent reading and helping students develop an ear for the proper cadence of expressive reading. by theofficepicnic Jul 25

This is a really interesting site that I hadn't seen before. There are several popular children's books available. I think this will be a helpful tool for modeling fluency from various readers. by vr1v3ra Jul 24

Modeled reading by professional actors! Students hear actors model fluent and (very!) expressive reading. Students may then practice reading the stories on their own. by jessicabennett Jul 23

Screen Actors' Guild supported read-to-me online program. Easy for younger students to use, with selection of books with vivid illustrations, read by well-known actors so great modeling of expressive reading. My favorite "Me and My Cat" read by Elijah Woods! Free and easy to use great for free time activity or for parents that do not have time to read. by c.williams Jul 21

Not only do students get to see/hear professional (and sometimes well known) actors read stories, but each book has an activities page with a plethora of information and activities - I've already book marked this one!! by amayberry1 Jul 2

Storyline Online is free site and a great way for students to have their favorite or new books read to them. The books also come with activities for teachers to help students get the most out of these books. by vickiekwiecinski Jul 2

This is another website that has online books being read aloud by volunteers. Learners can read along, focus on intonation and pronunciation, look at the pictures and enjoy. It also has activities guides with PDF exercises. The only disadvantage of this site is that it does not have a great variety of books. by sindy11 Oct 7
