Community Guide: Dubai Marina

Once a small cluster of waterfront high-rises on the very outskirts of the city, Dubai Marina has gradually morphed into a key residential and leisure district. It holds the claim of being the world’s largest man-made marina and also contains one of the city’s most popular beaches. Made by carving a channel to create an artificial waterfront, the Marina is essentially split into two districts. Part of it is an island, which houses the area known as Jumeirah Beach Residence. It connects to the rest of the district on the mainland through a series of bridges. Thus, the area effectively has its own canal and beach, making it a truly unique waterfront destination. Something For Every Lifestyle Last year, Dubai Marina was the most popular community (tied with Downtown) in terms of apartment sales. On the other end of the spectrum, there are options such as Marina Gate, which features this fantastic four-bedroom penthouse. Haven of Leisure Waterfront Living Redefined

High-Flying Lifestyle Experiences in Dubai Dubai offers something for every lifestyle, from swimming with sharks and dolphins at the Atlantis to enjoying a few rounds of golf at a championship golf course that has been graced by veterans of the sport. There are a few experiences, however, that are a cut above the rest - quite literally. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush that takes you high above the city, then you should definitely try one of these high-flying activities. Soar over the skyline of Dubai Marina, catching a glimpse of the towers that make up the ‘Tallest Block in the World’. The journey, which starts at Amwaj Towers on one side of the Marina, takes you across the water to Dubai Marina Mall, so you can unwind from the ride with a nice relaxing shopping spree or a stroll around the Marina boardwalk. The award-winning signature restaurant on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa is set a staggering 442 metres high and provides a dining experience that will be hard to top.

A Private Abra Ride on the Creek When it comes to enjoying life by the waterside, most people look toward the sandy beaches of the Jumeirah coastline, the constantly thrumming Dubai Marina or panoramic ocean views from luxury penthouses in Dubai's iconic Palm Jumeirah. However, if you head to the east of the city and over to the historic Deira Creek, you’ll find there’s a whole new (or old, in this case) world of waterfront wonders to discover. Thanks to a new initiative by the UAE’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), you’ll now be able to do that in the comfort of your own private boat. Most denizens of Deira and the neighboring district of Bur Dubai, which sit on opposite ends of the Creek, enjoy a ride on the abra, a traditional wooden boat that is most commonly used as a ferry. Taking the abra tends to be an inexpensive and quick affair. However, a recent service offered by the RTA is about to change all that.

In Case You Missed It: Most Exciting New Launches in January 2019 We are not even two months into 2019 yet and we have already seen several fantastic new projects announced by noted developers such as Emaar and Meraas, among others. It can be a bit hard to keep up with so many launches at once, so we have put them all together in one handy list. These are the newly announced projects in Dubai that we are most excited about. Dubai Creek Harbour is progressing quite well and is getting ready to hand over its first residences in Q1 of this year. The project generated quite a bit of buzz last summer with the unveiling of the mega retail centre known as Dubai Square and plans for the first Chinatown in the Middle East. Dubai Hills offers some of the very finest residences in Dubai, from spectacular golf course mansions to gorgeous contemporary apartments. Another very intriguing launch is Cherrywoods by Meraas. Late last year, Expo Golf Villas was launched in Emaar South, the mixed-use community that is being built near the site of Expo 2020.
