Institute for Human Centered Design How can we equip young people with the skills, information and opportunities to succeed in the world of work? - Inspiration - Tread Project- A Mobile Design Studio that empowers Youth through Footwear design Tread project is another great example of an organisation whose mission is to teach youth to become design thinkers and creative problem-solvers. The Tread project team have collaborated with universities, high-schools and most importantly footwear companies such Addidas, Nike, Reebok, Toms etc. to run the crash course. I think Tread project integrates plenty of ideas that have been posted during this inspiration phase... Tread project I guess can expand beyond the niche of footwear design. Tread Projects can teach youth to identify wicked problems in their community and then help them to develops skills to solve those problems. A possible scenario might be to teach them to build a smart community through design and technology. The founders of The Tread project emphasise this point. "One of Tread Project’s biggest takeaways was the sheer power that a seemingly niche skill like footwear design could hold. I think the opportunities are endless. Colfax Font Family | Process Type Foundry Colfax is a refined oval sans serif of 20th century origins and 21st century sensibilities. Influences ranging from the gruff Aurora Grotesk series to the elegant Neuzeit are paired with a subtle geometry and typographic utility to inform this family of sans serifs. Featuring a range of six weights with accompanying italics, the entire Colfax family is made up of twelve fonts. When designing Colfax’s weight range, we followed our standard policy: create truly useful weights rather than what is mechanically possible. The conventionally round or semi-oval characters of Colfax are comprised of subtle straight sides and near perfect circles. Although so-called true italics are often paired successfully with sans serif designs, they simply didn’t match Colfax. True to its minimalist roots, Colfax has just one alternate: the uppercase J. We love arrows so it’s only natural Colfax features a collection of left and right directional arrows in all six weights to point the way.
