A Battle to Preserve Wardenclyffe, Tesla’s Bold Failure It was the inventor’s biggest project, and his most audacious. The first tower rose on rural Long Island and, by 1903, stood more than 18 stories tall. One midsummer night, it emitted a dull rumble and proceeded to hurl bolts of electricity into the sky. The blinding flashes, The New York Sun reported, “seemed to shoot off into the darkness on some mysterious errand.” But the system failed for want of money, and at least partly for scientific viability. Today, a fight is looming over the ghostly remains of that site, called Wardenclyffe — what Tesla authorities call the only surviving workplace of the eccentric genius who dreamed countless big dreams while pioneering wireless communication and alternating current. A science group on Long Island wants to turn the 16-acre site into a Tesla museum and education center, and hopes to get the land donated to that end. “It’s hugely important to protect this site,” said Marc J. Recently, New York State echoed that judgment. Dr.

Cold Fusion Experiment: Major Success Or Complex Hoax? An experimental "cold fusion" device produced this pattern of "triple track" (shown at right), which scientists say is caused by high-energy nuclear particles resulting from a nuclear reaction.Pamela Mosier-Boss, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) A physicist in Italy claims to have demonstrated a new type of power plant that provides safe, cheap and virtually unlimited nuclear power to the world, without fossil fuels or radiation concerns. The only hitch: Scientists say the method -- cold fusion -- is patently impossible. Andrea Rossi doesn't seem to care. “With low energy, it's possible to give a heater a certain amount of energy and to get from the same heater a superior amount of energy,” Rossi explained. Rossi's claims have confounded the scientific community, many of whom have either dismissed the demonstration outright or have questioned whether the E-Cat really works. Koomey explained that cold fusion defies the laws of thermodynamics.

A Week of E-Cat News Flurry It's amazing how much E-Cat cold fusion news is accumulated in just one week, with no less than twelve news sites dedicated to covering it, thus creating these ~37 stories, including news on customers, products, competitor progress, pending scientific validations, and history. Plus compilation showing 1st customer = US Military. By Sterling D. There has been a lot of miscellaneous news items over the past few days. It reminds me of when I'm making hot cereal in the morning. So, without further ado, here are some of the recent news items posted from around the web. Following this compilation is a list of hints about who the first customer is. Customers New eCat Customer To Be Public - Rossi writes: "Today we sold in the USA a 1 MW plant which will go to a normal Customer. Most of the graphic on that page comes from here. - -

World’s First Perpetual Motion Machine? | ASTOUNDE.com Can this machine operate forever? Since at least the 12th century, man has sought to create a perpetual motion machine; a device that would continue working indefinitely without any external source of energy. A large scientific contingent thinks such a device would violate the laws of thermodynamics, and is thus impossible. Could it be that as a race, we don’t fully understand the laws of physics and such a device may indeed be possible? Norwegian artist and mathematician Reidar Finsrud is an outside the box thinker that has devised a machine that he believes achieves true perpetual motion. The dream is that if we’re able to produce perpetual motion machines, that we’d have tapped into the holy grail of sustainability: an infinite energy source. A device that requires no input to run that could be affixed to a generator would harvest free energy to power whatever we so pleased. What are your thoughts? Source: Finsrud Comments comments

BioLite - BioLite Stove Is Cold Fusion Finally Being Accepted by Scientists?  - US Business News However, Pons and Fleishman could not consistently reproduce their results, and this led to the rejection of cold fusion, the discrediting of the two scientists by the general scientific community. Cold fusion became a complete dead end. Two different Department of Energy panels dismissed cold fusion theories and recommended against creating a program to study it. No one would risk putting major funding into any research projects, and no reputable scientists were willing to risk their reputations by pursuing a science that many considered equal to alchemy. (More: 'Storm Clouds' Darken Global Energy Skies) The promise of discovering a clean, green, safe, and (due to the fact that it is fueled by the most abundant metal and gas on the planet, nickel and hydrogen) cheap renewable energy source is causing many investors and scientists to overcome their previous reluctance and enter the field. Source
