Landscape Photographer of the Year: The dramatic beauty of Britain as you've never seen it before By Kerry Mcqueeney Updated: 08:03 GMT, 8 December 2011 Bleak, isolated, damaged yet beautiful, these stunning images show the country's landscapes as you've never seen them before. From majestic rolling hills and the remote beauty of salt marshes to detailed close-ups of toadstools and other woodland fungi, these are just a few of the incredible images to be exhibited as part of the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. The popular photographic award, now in its fifth year, culminates in a stunning exhibition of more than 100 photographs that shows the dramatic beauty and variety of our country. Mystical: The isolated Rodel Saltmarsh on the Isle of Harris, in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, is one of the images shortlisted for the exhibition It also reminds us of the need to safeguard this precious legacy for future generations. The exhibition is being held at the National Theatre. This year’s Awards are held in association with Network Rail, with the exhibition sponsored by Epson UK.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PALEOLITHIC DIET by Dr. Ben Balzer, family physician There are races of people who are all slim, who are stronger and faster than us. They all have straight teeth and perfect eyesight. The diet is usually referred to as the "Paleolithic Diet" referring to the Paleolithic or Stone Age era. The basic principles of the Paleolithic Diet are so simple that most high school students can understand them. All major dietary components are covered- (i.e. vitamins, fats, protein, fats, carbohydrates, antioxidants and phytosterols etc). For millions of years, humans and their relatives have eaten meat, fish, fowl and the leaves, roots and fruits of many plants. Around 10,000 years ago, an enormous breakthrough was made- a breakthrough that was to change the course of history, and our diet, forever. The cooking of grains, beans and potatoes had an enormous effect on our food intake- perhaps doubling the number of calories that we could obtain from the plant foods in our environment. · Contain toxins in small amounts

Shirley Collins/Courtesy of Alan Lomax Archive Alan Lomax (right) with musician Wade Ward during the Southern Journey recordings, 1959-1960. Folklorist Alan Lomax spent his career documenting folk music traditions from around the world. Lomax recorded a staggering amount of folk music. "We err on the side of doing the maximum amount possible," says Don Fleming, executive director of the Association for Cultural Equity, the nonprofit organization Lomax founded in New York in the '80s. "For the first time, everything that we've digitized of Alan's field recording trips are online, on our website," says Fleming. "Alan would have been thrilled to death. Throughout his career, Lomax was always using the latest technology to record folk music in the field and then share it with anyone who was interested. "There was never any money in it for Alan," says Fleming. Money is still tight.

Mashup-Germany - It's all about creating. cole rise Killer Wine Glass Set: 7 Unique Glasses for 7 Deadly Sins The eerie similarity between the color of red wine and that of blood has inspired everything from poems to plays and eerie red wine glasses, and now drives the design of these distinctive pieces of clear custom crystal. Each glass in the set is designed to represent one of the seven so-called deadly sins, from wrath and greed to lust and envy. Bulges, bends, black chains, cut corners and creative charms turn these otherwise ordinary wine glasses into strangely compelling works of mad genius from creative designer Kacper Hamilton. Associated images depict characters, costumes and settings reflecting the intention of each glass in an intentionally theatrical manner. The limited-edition handmade series comes in a simple wooden box with a see-through glass top, making the entire red wine glass collection as funky to display as the glasses are fun to use.
