Therefore, THUMS can be used in automotive crash simulations to identify safety problems and find their solutions. The technology then helps Toyota build safer cars across the entire range. The aim of the campaign was to highlight the notion of 'human fragility'. The commercial launched as a 60 second commercial and appeared as 45s and 30s. 'Glass Organ' won 6 awards at Australian Writers & Art Directors awards, Australia's most prestigious advertising awards. Today we settle once and for all which render engine will reign supreme over the world of non traditional particle renderers! Exciting, I know. We began this journey a few weeks back when the question was raised, “Why not render our particle simulations in Vray/Arnold?”. Spec of render machine: Intel 3GHZ 32 thread 64 bit PC with 64 gigs of ram and a Quadro 6000 video card. Graphic 1a represents: Arnold Sampling 4/4/2/0 Motion Blur value of 1.5, with a Step of 3 Particles rendered as Spheres with a radius of .01 Total Render Time: 13 minutes Graphic 1b represents: Vray Adaptive DMC, Min 1 Max 4, Threshold .01 Motion Blur 1.5, Subdivisions 20 Particles rendered as Spheres with a radius of .01 Total Render Time: 22 minutes As you can see in graphic 1a the Arnold particles look a bit more sandy or granular, but Arnold is faster at smaller motion blur levels than Vray by almost half. Liquid Experiments Produce Hypnotizing Swirls of Color New York-based artist Kim Keever experiments with colorful tinted paints and water to create these beautifully abstract, hypnotizing formations. As a former thermal engineer for NASA projects, Keever tends to veer his work towards the scientific and experimental. To produce this particular style, the artist drops various amounts of color into water and documents the swirling liquids as they mix and mingle. He uses an enormous 200-gallon fish tank as the setting for much of his work, which offers plenty of space for the incredibly unpredictable reactions to emerge. Staring at the mesmerizing photographs is a similar experience to pointing out shapes among the clouds. Kim Keever's website via [This Isn't Happiness], [Juxtapoz]
