Pour sa défense? A la fin des années 1980, elles ont percuté les magazines de mode indépendants britanniques, i-D, The Face, Dazed & Confused, qui ont failli à l'époque ne pas s'en remettre. Le style de Teller engendre des visions quelquefois blafardes, des couleurs flashées à outrance, pénétrées d'un jaune orangé qui lénifie tout sur son passage. Quelle ne fut pas la réaction de l'historien d'art Adrian Searle quand il vit son portrait affiché dans le Guardian, faisant la grimace devant une soupe tonkinoise. Son image, elle, s'est posée dans le sous-sol du glamour, bien tapie dans un coin pour ne traquer que la vérité.

Malgré les dizaines de campagnes de sensibilisation qui tentent chaque année de dénoncer la pression des médias, et de la société en général, sur les corps des femmes, les diktats actuels de beauté restent assez rigides. The Fanciful, Monstrous Feminine (Le fantasque et monstrueux corps féminin) est un projet photographique de l'artiste australienne Jessica Ledwich visant à dénoncer les tortures que les femmes font subir à leur corps pour être physiquement « dans la norme ». Capturing the overlooked beauty of the Parisian suburbs
Last year photographer Wendy Huynh completed her degree at Central Saint Martins with a body of work dedicated to the Parisian suburbs of her youth. The project has since evolved and Huynh has created the magazine Arcades; a participative project focusing on the fashion and culture of the suburbs. (Photo: © Wendy Huynh/Arcades) The project was financed by a Kickstarter campaign and Huynh was able to transform her end of year project into a real magazine, printing 300 copies. Helped by her friends from Central Saint Martins she created the first addition featuring work by stylists Floris Bénéjam and Yeon Yo; photographers Sarah Louise Stedeford, Alyssia Lou and illustrators Honey Forestier, Héléna Kadji. The concept behind the magazine is to document life in the suburbs and each edition focuses on a different suburb.
