Heat the olive oil in a large (6 to 8 quart), thick-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef stock, water, Guinness, red wine, tomato paste, sugar, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves. Stir to combine. Bring mixture to a simmer. 3 Sauté onions, carrots in separate pan: While the pot of meat and stock is simmering, melt the butter in another pot over medium heat. Transfer stew to serving bowls.

Choc-TASTIC!!! Quinoa Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Ganache! This past weekend was my wonderful friend Robin's birthday (but don't tell her I've mentioned her again in my blog, she`s getting kind of a big head about it) and due to some various dietary restrictions in the group, I decided to make her cake gluten-free, dairy-free. Do not be concerned. This cake was so delicious that we devoured the leftovers the morning after her party like hungry sharks attacking their prey. Wet: 2 cups cooked quinoa 1/2 cup almond milk (or other alternative milk) 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 3/4 cup canola oil Dry: 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 Tbsp baking powder 1 tsp salt So, start by cooking you quinoa. This should make about 2 cups of cooked quinoa (it made a little extra for me so measure it out after it's cooked). In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients. Bake at 350 in a well greased cake pan for 45-50 minutes. Ganache My sister used this recipe on Valentine`s Day and almost missed the optimum window.

Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread How do you make bread even better? You stuff it with pepperoni and cheese. Then, you bake it in a bundt pan that allows you to pull off little chunks and dip them in pizza sauce. This is the perfect thing to bring to a party (and I did, where it disappeared quickly!) This bread takes a little bit of time to prepare, but in about half an hour I had filled my bundt pan with little dough balls, each with a piece of pepperoni and cheese stuffed within it. My new definition of bliss: warm dough with a cheesy center and a bite of pepperoni. Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Breadfrom Confections of a Foodie BrideIngredients: -2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced -4 tbsp butter -2 lbs pizza dough (I used 2 balls of Trader Joe's fresh dough) -6 oz. mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes (about 48 pieces) -pepperoni (about 48 slices) -2-3 cups marinara sauce for serving Directions: 1. 3. 4. Cherry Clafoutis Recipe Cherry Clafoutis or Clafouti (pronounced kla-foo-TEE) is a rustic looking French country dessert from the Limousin region that has become very popular in North America. Traditionally it was made with the first sweet cherries of the season, and the cherries were left unpitted so their kernels could release their delicate almond flavor as they baked. It is a pudding (custard) of sorts, very similar to the Apple Popover (pancake) recipe on the site. A Cherry Clafoutis is made by covering sweet cherries with a pancake-like batter and then baking it in a hot oven until the batter has set with nicely browned, and slightly puffed edges. Today, a lot of people prefer this dish with pitted cherries, which makes the clafoutis much easier to eat. As always, it is important to choose our fruit carefully.

Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce {My Go-To Dinner Saver!} I am not (not!) exaggerating when I say this quick, creamy garlic alfredo sauce has changed how I view non-dinner nights. You know. Those nights when dinner just ain’t happening. Too many things going on. The problem is, on nights like that, I just can’t handle the thought of dinner approaching and knowing I’m going to have to scrounge up something my kids will eat but I’ll probably find gag-worthy. Enter this sauce. We’ve made this no less than 10 times in the last month, and I have never, and I mean never, seen my kids gobble up anything so quickly. Embarrassingly, I have to admit, this sauce is even on the menu this week. Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce Note: I've only ever used 1% milk in this sauce and it works great for our tastes. Ingredients Directions In a medium pot or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Printed from Mel's Kitchen Cafe (www.melskitchencafe.com)
