You have to be a very talented artist to be able to draw realistic images on skin (especially because skin textures are so varied). A good example is the dark-style tattoos of Victor Portugal. These day's most female tattoos are considered extremely sexy and attractive. Tattooing for women has become mainstream and socially acceptable in almost every setting, even in the work place. I like to show hints of my shoulder and foot tattoos when I wear sexy sun dresses and sandals in the office. I have even heard that in some tattoo parlors the ratio of females getting tattoos can be as high as 70 percent women.

High Speed Liquid and Bubble Photographs by Heinz Maier It never ceases to amaze me: just when I think I’ve seen every possible permutation of an artform or technique—be it figurative sculpture, stop motion animation, or in this case, high speed photography—somebody comes along and manages to do something radically different. German photographer Heinz Maier says that he began taking photographs less than a year ago in late 2010. He claims to not know what direction he’s heading in just yet, right now he’s experimenting with macro photography, mostly insects, animals, and these delicate high speed water droplets. Personally, I think he’s found a great direction. Inked Souls Drugs are my only escape from a world where nothing ever seems to get better. -Was physically abused by my parents (mother in particular) for as long as I can remember up until age thirteen after i threatened to call the police.-Was verbally abused until I couldn’t deal with it anymore and had to leave home at eighteen. These tattoos are made with a special ink which becomes visible under a black light, though the tattoo itself is invisible in regular light. In the last decade these tattoos have become popular among party-goers as they are readily visible at parties where a black light may be used.

The Chromatic Typewriter Washington-based painter Tyree Callahan modified a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter, replacing the letters and keys with color pads and hued labels to create a functional “painting” device called the Chromatic Typewriter. Callahan submitted the beautiful typewriter as part of the 2012 West Prize competition, an annual art prize that’s determined by popular vote. I don’t know how practical painting an image with a color typewriter is, but if Keira Rathbone can do it… (via dark silence in suburbia)
