L'homme est comme l'objet fait à la main : chacun est différent, chacun a son propre esprit créateur qui fait de lui une oeuvre d'art de la nature. L'enfant possède une vie psychique active même avant d'être en mesure de l'exprimer et dont il lui faut élaborer, longtemps et dans le secret, les réalisations difficiles. Le nouveau-né doit donc entreprendre un travail de construction qui, sur le plan psychique, rapelle celui qui s'est élaboré corporellement pendant la période embryonnaire.
