Make your own precious jewelry; free lessons and tutorials by Eni Oken - ENIOKEN.COM diy {bird nest necklace} I have been seeing a lot of bird nest jewelry around lately. They are beautiful and I love the trend so I thought I would try making my own. These turned out to be really easy to make and require just a few simple supplies. What you'll need: - Jewelry wire (I prefer using a 24 gage because it is easier to manipulate but the 20 gage can work well too with the help of some round nose pliers) - pearls or glass beads - necklace chain - jump ring and a clasp Select the beads you want, string them onto your wire and arrange them as you'd like. then simply wrap the wire around the beads wrap some wire in the space between each bead (I like the look of three loops but you could just do one or two if you prefer) this is what the back looked like. now attach a jump ring and a clasp to the end of a necklace chain and this is what you end up with :) I love how each one is so different just to show you the difference between the 20 and 24 gage... I think this one is my favorite
DIY CD favour place setting for your wedding Music is such a big part of your wedding day, and many of you are spending more and more time deciding what live music you’ll have, and also what your wedding playlist will be. It’s common now to ask your guests for suggestions for the playlist on your Save The Dates. It’s a great idea as it makes your guests feel like part of the celebration from the word go and it helps to ensure a jam packed dance floor on the big day its self. A nice touch for your favours would be to give guests a selection of tunes from your playlist on a home made mix cd… so why not build the whole thing into your table decor? Today I am going to show you how to make places settings that double as a cd holder and all you need is one sheet of A4 paper for each place setting… you don’t even need a pair of scissors! Here Is One I made Earlier… First of all, to make life super easy for you lovely people, I have popped together a Word template for you to download (we love a free download at RMW). How It’s Done. Adam.
Agosto 2011 Com papéis pra Scrapbook, fitas, tesoura, cola e muita criatividade!!! p.s: as fotos encontrei no Google, não são minhas! LEGO Lime Green Love Heart Necklace by KorpseCrafts DIY : Celtic heart knot necklace // Collier ficelle à noeud en coeur | Clones 'n' Clowns This is a tricky DIY but also a quick one if you get your head / fingers around it. You probably have all you need at home already, i.e. a couple of hoodie strings or any other rope or string. String necklaces are extremely popular this season and there are so many different types you can make yourself in no time. Voilà un tutorial un peu complexe en apparence mais en réalité rapide et simple. Learn how to do it yourself (make sure you follow the arrows…!) Toi-même tu sais faire (suivez les flèches dans le bon ordre…!) A few extra tips / Quelques astuces supplémentaires : – Just tie the laces at the back of your neck and cut off any extra string / Nouez les ficelles derrière le cou et couper le surplus – Choose light dark coloured string for a nice contrast / Choisissez une couleur de ficelle foncée et une claire pour avoir un joli contrast – Use the two pieces of string as ONE / Utilisez les deux bouts de ficelle ensemble, comme UN seul et même lacet – Tee-shirt by Zara xx
DIY Hex Nut Diamond Bracelet : DIY Fashion by Trinkets in Bloom I love finding supplies to make jewelry at the hardware store. For this bracelet I revisited an old favorite the “hex nut†and this time I brightened it up with a purple rat tail cord. You can easily stack this bracelet with all your others for a great look. Brass hex nutsBrass jump ringsPliers24†of rat tail cordLighter Step 1 Lay out your hex nuts to determine your pattern. Step 2 Using your pliers, open your jump rings to fit around your hex nuts, you will be joining 2 at a time. Step 3 • Cut your rat tail cord in half. • Fold it over and loop it through your end nut. • Take one hex nut and feed your cords from each side through the hex nut. • Tie your ends in knots. • Using your lighter, carefully melt the ends of your cord. I have to tell you that I was inspired to make this bracelet while I was watching an episode of the Real Housewives of Orange County, when I was at the gym. I actually set out to make earrings with this project.
Magic Braided Leather Tutorial Seriously this tutorial is magic. I’ve been wanting to share it with you for about a year now, but it’s taken me so long to sit down & figure out the best way to explain myself. See, I discovered how to do this while mindlessly watching an episode of House. My mother-in-law has a rad purse from the ’70s or so; it’s leather with a very cool handle. I’ll be sharing this today on KSL’s Studio 5! (of course the pattern pieces above aren’t the same, I was just too lazy to take a supplies pic that was practically the same as this one. hope you’ll forgive me.) hammerscissorshole punchtapebutton-stud/snap & setter1-2 oz leather/felt Print and cut out pattern pieces. Tape your leather to a sturdy surface, like a desk or slab of wood. Ignoring the bottom part as you go, count up to 6. Look at the bottom part, the strand that’s on top should go through the hole. Once you’ve followed through that end, your ends should look like this. Once you’re done braiding, your bracelet will look a little lumpy.
Thread Wrapped Love Necklace I opted for a charm instead of a tassel, but you can obviously use whatever you'd like. Check out how I made it below! Supplies: - Craft wire (I used 24 gauge) - Embroidery thread, one skein - Scissors - Round nosed jewelry pliers - Chain (length is up to you) - Clear nail polish (you'll use this in more than one way!) 1) Cut a length of wire. 2) Keeping the skein of thread in tact/in the packaging (this makes it easier to work with), tightly tie the thread near the loop you just made. 3) Begin tightly wrapping the thread around the wire. 4) Continue wrapping the thread, until you've reached about 9 (or so) inches of wrapped wire. 5) Tightly triple or quadruple knot the thread. 6) Cut off the excess thread, and secure the knot with clear nail polish. 7) Cut off the excess wire, leaving about half an inch. 8) Go back to the end that you started with, and cut off the excess thread. 9) Start creating the "L" at one end. 12) Bend the wire back up, then horizontally. Pretty easy! Xo, Kirsten
painting wooden spoons! Yesterday was STRESSful for me. I know I will sound like a complete wuss but it was. Aaron had his first dentist visit and came out with SIX cavities. :( That completely bums me out for him. Add to that the verbal scolding I feel like I got from the dentist and his helper and I was in the pits yesterday. I felt like the doctor didn't believe me when he asked...well does he drink a lot of juice? Anyway...I'm happy to have dental insurance and I am thankful that they are baby teeth. Yesterday seemed like a good day to tackle this project. Once they are dry they will be coated with a layer of food/baby/people safe shellac. And now to find the right way to display them in my kitchen.... Basket Weaving old tshirts I love a simple top with a twist. The strips were a bit time consuming because I sewed them together to create a more tailored look. I kept the front plain, but you can flip it to be worn either way... Make strips using similar jersey. For an easier DIY you can cut the strips right from the back of the shirt. Weaved them in and out and sew! Once I got to the length I wanted, I made a larger strip to go all the way around. front and back view
DIY geometric felt bookmarks Remember the boxes I made with stiffened felt from the craft store? I found it was easy to cut the stuff by hand with an X-acto knife, so I used the leftover scraps to make bookmarks with geometric cutouts. Kinda like the laser-cut items that are really popular right now, but without the laser. LAURA PARKE: DIY: PAINTED WOODEN BEAD NECKLACE Today I'm sharing a simple project with some bright colors. Perfect for spring! -necklace chain (mine is about 28" long) -ten 1" wooden beads with predrilled holes -paint (I used DecoArts Americana paints in these colors: Sea Breeze, Royal Fuchsia, Orange Twist, Bright Yellow & Neutral Gray) -paintbrush -painters tape STEP 1: Sometimes the wooden beads have shavings on the inside. STEP 2: Eyeball the center of your bead, and using the painters tape, wrap the bead horizontally, making sure the ends meet to allow half of the bead to be exposed for painting. STEP 3: Paint the exposed part of your bead. STEP 4: Once the paint is dry, peel off the painters tape. STEP 5: Now it's time to string the beads. Close the claps and you are ready to wear it!
