World’s longest underwater ‘crystal’ cave in deep Russian waters revea... - StumbleUpon Russian divers working on Orda Cave Awareness Project have revealed a set of unseen pictures of the world’s longest underwater cave. Located near Orda village in Perm region, Ural, Orda Cave is also the biggest underwater gypsum crystal cave in the world and second in Eurasia in terms of volumes of its galleries that stretch up to five kilometers. Famous underwater photographer, journalist and dive-instructor Victor Lyagushkin led the team of cave divers and took stunning images of the cave at less than zero degree temperature. “There is extremely low water temperature, about 3C and 20C below zero on surface. Under these circumstances shooting became very challenging,” Lyagushkin said. The location of the cave in Ural region, which is known for rich mineral deposits in Russia, may be linked to the gypsum content in Orda Cave, which has transparent water because of the mineral. Here are a few unique pictures of Orda Cave taken by Victor Lyagushkin during numerous expeditions:

Video: Divers find large, unexplained object at bottom of Baltic Sea | The... A team of salvage divers has discovered an unexplained object resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Sweden. "This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom," said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the amateur treasure hunters. Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it's not alone. "Could this be the Star Wars Millenium Falcon, a plug to an inner world or a marine version of Stonehenge?" Well, it could just be another shipwreck. But Lindberg says the ship theory doesn't really hold up because of the unusually large size of the objects. The Baltic Sea is a literal treasure trove for salvage teams and a "shipwreck laboratory" for researchers. The Ocean Explorer team first made their find back in August and had no plans to return to the scene. Plitvice, a watery paradise in Croatia - StumbleUpon In recent years, Croatia has changed from a relative unknown to one of the trendiest destinations in Europe. To a great extent this is due to the country's rocky littoral, which, washed by the Adriatic, is considered one of the most beautiful of the Mediterranean coastlines. Then there is the rich history and cultural heritage of medieval towns such as Dubrovnik, Split and Sibenik. But the well-deserved popularity also depends on the protected natural areas, which make up some ten per cent of the country's area. Eight areas enjoy national park status – a very high number for a relatively small country. Use the left and right arrow keys to view the images Plitvice Lakes National Park is in the Lika region of Croatia and lies in a plateau surrounded by three mountains, not far from the border with Bosnia The park is criss-crossed by a series of paths and trails that allow visitors to explore the area and observe the flora and fauna
