OWS Facebook acampadabcninternacional | comissió internacional acampadabcn What Is The Plan? - Portal Cell Phone Guide for Occupy Wall Street Protesters (and Everyone Else) Occupy Wall Street has called for a global day of action on October 15, and protesters are mobilizing all over the world. In the United States, the Occupy Wall Street movement has already spawned sizeable protests in New York, Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Austin, and other cities. Several of these movements have faced opposition from their local police departments, including mass arrests. Protesters of all political persuasions are increasingly documenting their protests -- and encounters with the police -- using electronic devices like cameras and cell phones. 1. Think carefully about what’s on your phone before bringing it to a protest. Password-protect your phone - and consider encryption options. Back up the data on your phone. 2. Maintain control over your phone. Consider taking pictures and video. 3. Remember that you have a right to remain silent -- about your phone and anything else. 4.

Occupy Wall Street | NYC Protest for American Revolution El Oso » Archive » Revolutions, Memes and Networks What follows is a rough approximation of my brief introductory talk at this year’s Ars Electronica Symposium which I co-curated with Isaac Mao. The presentation is at Slideshare. Videos of all the talks are available on the website. The Revolutionary Meme When Ars Electronica first began over 30 years ago, it was one of the only annual events that focused on the impact of technology on society and creativity. Today there are multiple events that examine technology’s role on all aspects of life, not just every week, but every single day. I believe that there are two reasons. Three years before the first Ars Electronica, a 35-year-old Richard Dawkins published the book The Selfish Gene. Today in many parts of the world we have new terms like Information Addiction and Information Obesity. Some information is more memetic than others, it more successfully activates our compulsion to share it with our networks. The TV Generation The Internet Generation

Wall Street Declaration This document was accepted by the NYC General Assembly on September 29, 2011 Translations: French , Slovak , Spanish , German , Italian , Arabic , Portuguese [ all translations »] As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies. As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. To the people of the world,

Occupy Wall Street Protesters Get Their Day in Court | MetroFocus What is an ACD? An adjournment contemplating dismissal, commonly referred to as an ACD, is a form of conditional probation. It is not an admission of guilt, nor is it an affirmation of innocence, Stolar explained. But ACDs do have other legal implications, he said, particularly for non-citizens and for people who may be involved in other types of criminal or civil cases. A defendant who accepts an offer of an ACD does not have to decide whether to plead guilty or not guilty. According to a source in the district attorney’s office, ACDs are typically offered to “first time offenders, who maybe didn’t make a great decision but who you know you are not going to be asking for jail time for” because it’s “not someone who benefits from being entered into the criminal justice system and [they] don’t deserve having a black mark on their record.” The second mass arrest of Occupy Wall Street protesters resulted in more than 700 arrests on the Brooklyn Bridge on Oct. 1. A chilling effect?
