Internet Relay Chat

Internet Relay Chat
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is an application layer protocol that facilitates transfer of messages in the form of text. The chat process works on a client/server model of networking. IRC clients are computer programs that a user can install on their system. These clients are able to communicate with chat servers to transfer messages to other clients.[1] It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels,[2] but also allows one-to-one communication via private message[3] as well as chat and data transfer,[4] including file sharing.[5] Client software is available for every major operating system that supports Internet access.[6] As of April 2011, the top 100 IRC networks served more than half a million users at a time,[7] with hundreds of thousands of channels[7] operating on a total of roughly 1,500 servers[7] out of roughly 3,200 servers worldwide.[8] History [edit] Technical information[edit] A screenshot of HexChat, an IRC client for GTK environments.

Ten Tips For Joining The Right Corporation Joining a corporation is the single most important thing that you can do to improve your EVE Online experience. Whether you are cruising the in-game recruitment channel, perusing the in-game recruitment rolodex, posting your EVE resume in the Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center on the main EVE site, or just asking around, you need to sort the good corps from the lemons. These ten tips will help you find the corporation that best suits you. 1. Does the corporation take players of your skill level? Conversely, if you are a PVP master, make sure that the corporation you are thinking of joining is run by serious players that know what they are doing. 2. 3. The reverse case is something to be aware of, as well. 4. The very minimum that a good corporation should have is a teamspeak or ventrilo server. An out of game communication method is important to the success of a corporation, as well.

Why I don’t play Eve Online | Restokin A little background on me for the potential Eve readers: I’m a female geek & gamer. My boyfriend and I play WoW together. We have characters in the same guild. My boyfriend has an Eve Online account, and he’s been playing off & on for years. What could CCP Games do to attract and maintain a higher percentage of women to the game. So, in a true hard-core gamer-girl fashion, I set out and did hours of research about Eve (websites, reading other blog contest entries, etc), and even tried out the character creation process in-game, and made it through about 45-minutes worth of the in-game tutorial (which mostly involved me sitting at the computer with him looking over my shoulder & telling me what to do when I got frustrated). Marketing a strange & uninviting space: From their website, and their marketing techniques, they target male potential players, and advertise mostly male-stereotyped activities (ie. conquer lands & manipulate markets). How to Highlight female-friendly aspects of Eve:

EVE vs WoW: A Comparison EVE vs WoW: A Comparison EVE Online and World of Warcraft, even though they're both MMOs, are about as different as you can get. You start with the actual mechanics of characters - skill-based versus level-based, and go from there. The most fundamental difference in gameplay, I think, is where the horizon is. Then there's the player influence on the setting. Character choices are another major area of difference. Then there are the skills. Finally, there's a matter of player skills. So... to conclude, according to the way I'm looking at things at the moment, WoW has a limited lifespan as regards interest, going from really interesting in the beginning to just dull at the end, and EVE goes from pretty dull to really interesting, and doesn't seem to have limits. Am I persuading any of you to come play EVE yet? Posted by Drew Shiel at November 10, 2006 4:23 PM I would definely start playing EVE again, but not from scratch. I have tried them both and think that everyone should play EVE! P.S.

A Clash of Titans: World of Warcraft vs EvE Online « Torvik Reviews Blog This is the transcript for the videos [if you don't want to read it you can watch the videos instead, they are posted down] Hello and welcome to my comparison of these two great MMOs. Before i begin i should point it out that the list is rather subjective and maybe others of you won’t agree with it me. So let’s not waste time and get into this. WoW- if you haven’t heard about this game you must be from another planet. Made in 2004 this is the most successful mmo out there. Eve- CCP published this game in 2003. So right from the bat they are different but let’s see how different. Graphics So let’s start with the obvious features. The graphics in Eve are well, much more amazing. Winner: EvE Sounds While the sounds in WoW such as character lines, effects sounds are very well done the soundtrack is epic. EvE sounds, like explosions and our Aura are done good also but the soundtrack of Eve is just not that good. Winner: WoW Storyline Well there’s no actually storyline in mmos. Gameplay Winner: WoW PvE
