Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary 2010 Agrifood research in Europe: a global perspective Keywords Agriculture - Food science - European Union - Publication analysis - Citation analysis Introduction Agricultural production and food industry have always had a special role in the history of mankind. Agrifood activities have affected everyday life since the first plots of land had been cultivated and these sectors have always received strategic attention: in times of war the agrifood sectors are always carefully taken into account but also in the current crisis these sectors show some degree of stability and they are looked upon as potential assets for the coming decades, which are likely to see global ecological as well as political imbalances and reconfigurations. Transport and Urban Development (TUD) TUD fosters research coordination in the fields of transport and the built environment, which play a strategic role in the modern society and economy. The Domain is by definition cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary, encompassing a wide range of scientific expertises within the transport and land use planning, design, and management activities with a special emphasis on the strong interrelationships among the relevant policy fields as well on all aspects related to sustainable development. The domain activities should be innovative and complementary to other European programmes in the relevant fields. The aim is to cover both basic and applied research activities including technical and technological developments and their changeovers that are relevant to policy and decision making processes. A significant concern is devoted to activities exploring new research needs and developments.

UNIVERSITE DE SHERBROOKE - Intégrité en recherche et conflits d'intérêt Accès rapides UdeS en bref Direction Les études BMC - DEC 2011 - Research for food and health in Europe: themes, needs and proposals Support at national level Food processing research funding varies greatly from country to country, with higher levels of it in west Europe and less in the east. There is very little evidence of joint specific funding for this topic anywhere in Europe. Food processing research appears reasonably well funded at EU level, although within larger Food and Health projects. There are research facilities and infrastructure in both western and eastern European countries, with significant facilities in both regions, although these are ageing in the eastern countries. In almost all countries, the industry has projects on food technology diagnostic methods, whereas enforcement programmes are planned by public entities, universities and public research institutes and sometime endorsed by private actors.
