Dance drawings In September two of my pieces got shortlisted for the New Lights exhibition. New Lights is a charity formed in 2010 to promote and support emerging young artists in contemporary art in the North of England. The judges this year have drawn a short-list of 50 works by 33 artists from 298 entries. I feel very privileged to be amongst them. These are the images of drawings that got shortlisted: On the Friday of 20th of September the exhibition had its private view in Mercer Gallery in Harrogate. The 2013 Prize Exhibition will run from 21 September until 17 November 2013. This year’s winner of £10,000 Valeria Sykes Award is Josie Jenkins - Congratulations! Home - Second Life carmelo blandino Late bloomer: the exquisite craft of Mary Delany Mary Delany’s stunning works are a remarkable combination of art and science. Often mistaken for watercolours, they are in fact carefully constructed paper collages, or ‘mosaicks’ as she called them. Surprisingly, the story starts when the artist was 72, after she noticed the similarity between a geranium and a piece of red paper that was on her bedside table. The realisation prompted Delany to pick up a pair of scissors and imitate the petals in paper. So accurate was the finished result that when her friend Margaret Bentinck, Duchess of Portland, saw Delany’s paper artwork, she mistook it for a real flower. I have invented a new way of imitating flowers Delany’s path to becoming an artist was not straightforward. However, her family pressed her into marrying elderly Cornish MP Alexander Pendarves when she was just 17, and after four unhappy years of marriage she was widowed. Her second marriage to Irish clergyman Dr Patrick Delany was more rewarding. Been inspired?

Mais qu’est-ce qu’une harmonie des couleurs ? Il y a une part de subjectivité dans ce qui nous paraît être (ou non) harmonieuxmais il y a aussi un ordre rationnel que l’on peut établir entre les couleurs.L’idéal est bien sûr de connaître les deux méthodes, l’une servant à vérifier l’autre.
