Le 2 mai dernier a été lancé edX [1], un site d'enseignement en ligne créé conjointement par les deux grandes universités de Boston : Harvard et le MIT. Bien évidemment, les établissements d'enseignement supérieur rendaient disponibles sur la toile des supports éducatifs depuis longtemps : le site OpenCourseWare [2] met ainsi des cours filmés à disposition du grand public depuis une dizaine d'années. La nouveauté est que les étudiants pourront dorénavant non seulement suivre un cours à distance, mais aussi communiquer avec le professeur et les autres élèves, rendre des devoirs régulièrement, passer des examens et enfin recevoir un certificat attestant que le cours a été suivi et validé. Pédagogie et innovation numérique, vers quoi allons-nous ? Je suis invité à venir m’exprimer aux Terrasses du numérique organisées par la Direction des Usages du Numérique de l’université de Strasbourg (Unistra). Leur demande « Pédagogie et innovation numérique, vers quoi allons-nous ? » m’a amené à réfléchir à proposer quelques grands thèmes et à y intégrer quelques témoignages d’expérimentations. Le résultat s’articule donc autour de deux grands axes : l’entrelacement entre le réel et le virtuel, qui me permettra d’aborder : le mobile (learning), d’évoquer rapidement les interactions liées à la réalité augmentée, la simulation et le 3D, et de continuer sur les Fablabs (et nos codecamps) etl’internet des objets le collaboratif, pour lequel je repartirai de mes différentes expériences avec le web, puis je reprendrai quelques diapos sur l’idée que les ressources éducatives libres se développeront en réseau(x), et je compléterai avec les MOOCs et autres badges ouverts

Smart materials get SMARTer Cambridge, Mass. – July 11, 2012 – Living organisms have developed sophisticated ways to maintain stability in a changing environment, withstanding fluctuations in temperature, pH, pressure, and the presence or absence of crucial molecules. The integration of similar features in artificial materials, however, has remained a challenge—until now. In the July 12 issue of Nature, a Harvard-led team of engineers presented a strategy for building self-thermoregulating nanomaterials that can, in principle, be tailored to maintain a set pH, pressure, or just about any other desired parameter by meeting the environmental changes with a compensatory chemical feedback response. Called SMARTS (Self-regulated Mechano-chemical Adaptively Reconfigurable Tunable System), this newly developed materials platform offers a customizable way to autonomously turn chemical reactions on and off and reproduce the type of dynamic self-powered feedback loops found in biological systems.

iTunes U App, para acceder a cursos educativos online desde dispositivos móviles Apple en su apartado de noticias ( y debido a su reciente evento en New York) recuerda que está disponible la aplicación de iTunes U de manera gratuita. Sino has escuchado hablar de iTunes U te comentó que es una plataforma de Apple dedicaba exclusivamente al sector educativo, ofreciendo cursos completos de las universidades más importantes, así como charlas y recursos educativos. Pero con la aplicación que ha lanzado Apple para iTunes U, la plataforma da un giro más interesante, ya que no solo será un centro de información, sino que se convierte en una aula virtual.Permite que los los profesores podrán diseñar y subir cursos online e interactuar con las personas que se registren, hacer seguimiento de notas. Citizen news: A democratic addition to political journalism Editor’s note: Herbert Gans is one of America’s preeminent sociologists, and some of his most notable work has come in examining the American news industry. His seminal 1979 book Deciding What’s News: A Study of CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, Newsweek and Time was born out of years spent in newsrooms, watching how the never-ending flood of human activity was distilled into the news. Here he argues for a new area of emphasis in political reporting for a democratic society — what he calls citizen news. Journalism and the news media are supposed to be a bulwark for democracy. But through their history, they have more often served as messengers for the high-level public officials whose actions and pronouncements they report regularly. Political news has not paid much attention to the citizenry. I’m not a huge fan of this method, but sometimes brute force is required. Take two ideas and ask yourself how they relate. Take a more complex idea and compare it to a simpler one. Draw it out. Most people take notes in a linear fashion, writing one statement after the next. A bit more efficient than rote memorization is to use mnemonics. This is an advanced memory technique. If I wanted to memorize a grocery list that had apples, milk and beans, my goal would be to create two images that linked apples to milk and milk to beans. A variation of the link method, this one helps you memorize numbers.
