Chess Tactics Chess Tactics (also called chess problems, or tactical exercises) are a great learning tool and an excellent way to improve your chess skills. It's all about spotting the winning move in any position, exploiting a weakness in your opponent's defenses, or taking advantage of a miscalculated move. All Chess Tactics exercises only have a single decisive move at each turn — a powerful chess engine was used to verify that making any other moves would be significantly less advantageous (in the long run). The goal of Chess Tactics is to gain maximum advantage in the shortest possible number of moves. Don't get discouraged if you fail to solve a Chess Tactics problem — take it as a learning opportunity and study the correct solution.
