Jello shots without the trash Ingredients: Strawberries (the biggest ones you can find) Strawberry jelly powder Creme de cacao Vodka Chocolate chips (optional) Wash the strawberries and pick out the nicest ones. You will need about 3 boxes worth of strawberries for 2 cups of jello. Cut off the bottoms so the strawberries can stand up but be careful to not make holes for the jello to leak out. Cut off the tops and hollow out the insides. For chocolate dipped strawberries, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave on low heat and then dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate. Mix 1 cup of boiling water and the jelly powder.

Make your own sports drinks – cheap and tasty DIY solutions | SportCrazy.net I remember reading about a DIY sports drink a couple of years back and it caught my interest because I was going through a lot of powdered Gatorade which is next to impossible to find in Ireland, or spending too much money on Lucozade Sport or equivalent sports energy drinks. Athletes drink a lot in training and I wanted to make my own sports drinks to save money and also because I can tailor the ingredients better to my needs. The important ingredients of a sports drink are: water keep the body hydrated, salts to both aid in that hydration (salt makes the solution isotonic) and to replace some (but not all) of the lost salts from sweat, andcarbohydrates (sugars) for energy. It’s pretty easy to figure out a simple recipe if you want to make your own sports drink. 70% water30% orange juicesmall amount of sugar to your energy and taste needspinch of salt (sodium is good, great if you can get some with potassium also) That’s it. 1. blog : Thirst Quench: Hydrating Drinks For Summertime By Wendy Tremayne We recognize the summer by the longest days and shortest nights and by thunderstorms and hail. It is the season of the monsoon rains that flood gardens and bring autumn’s harvest. It is also the season of the butterfly, bee and rattlesnake. For us humans, summer is the season that we need to work hardest to stay hydrated. Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur Here is another really yummy treat, Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur! I love it added to a cup of coffee! Irish Cream Liqueur from Bon Appetit 1 – 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk 1 cup Irish whiskey 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon instant coffee crystals 1 cup whipping cream 1 tablespoon canned sweetened cream of coconut (such as Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut ) My can was solid at the top, so I placed about 2 inches of water in a skillet and heated until the cream of coconut was liquid) Combine first 5 ingredients in blender; blend until coffee crystals dissolve, about 1 minute. You can pour chilled mixture over ice cubes, pour over chocolate or coffee ice cream too. I used 8oz tall skinny bottles from Germany (sorry). You could dress the bottles up even more with a hand painted bottle stopper! Don’t forget to check out other handmade gift ideas. Enjoy!

12 Tastes of Christmas :: Gingersnap Shake Are you drooling yet? ‘Cause I have been, ever since I laid eyes on these Gingersnap Milkshakes that Lisa sent over for her installment in our 12 Tastes of Christmas series. Lisa is not only an amazing cook, food stylist and photographer…I’m lucky to get to call this incredible girl a friend. We bonded at Alt Summit last year, and I got to hang with her during my San Fran trip earlier this month. I love this time of year when we gather at holiday festivities, share family recipes, toast the New Year and celebrate being together. When entertaining during the holidays, I like to change up the dessert course by serving these mini gingersnap cookie milkshakes. Serve in little glasses with a cookie crumb-coated rim, drop in a colorful straw and you’ve got yourself a festive treat. These can be altered to accommodate allergies (will be sharing ideas on my site later in the week!) Happy Holidays! Greek 7 Layer Dip Recipe So it’s been forever since I posted a recipe! Part of that has been the holidays – it was a crazy crafting whirlwind. :) The other part was a couple of commenter’s letting me know they weren’t as fond of those posts. But one of the goals I set for myself and Flamingo Toes this year was to be more “real” with you guys. If you do enjoy the recipes – I have one of our new favorites to share with you!! It’s a Greek Seven Layer Dip! Ingredients: 1 lb ground turkey 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon salt 1 pkg hummus (I think it was 8 oz) 1/2 English or seedless cucumber 2 Roma Tomatoes 1/2 cup Kalamata olives 1/2 red onion 4 oz pkg feta cheese 1 container of Greek dipping sauce/Tzatziki sauce 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh oregano Directions: Begin by browning your ground turkey. While turkey is browning, chop your onions. Tip: If raw onions bother your stomach or have too strong of a flavor for you, chop them first and place them in a small bowl. Now comes the fun part!!
