peaks_(2).jpg (800×539) Lamborghini Madura by Slavche Tanevski & Yanko Design - StumbleUpon One Sharp Black Lambo From the darkest depths of the design mind of the one called Slavche Tanevski comes THIS! The Lamborghini *Ankonian. It’s black. It’s sharp. And I don’t mean flashy in any kind of bad way. It’s not quite “green,” but it’s does have that sort of environmental friendliness in mind with it’s downsisedness. + Does this car look familiar to anyone? *NOTE from Chris Burns: originally I’d had this car marked “Madura”, when in fact it is called the Ankonian. Designer: Slavche Tanevski

Crystal River - The most beautiful river on earth [Pics] Cano Cristales - Crystal River. River of five colors, as the locals call it, originates in the south of the mountain chain Macarena, Colombia, and flows eastward to its confluence with the Guayabero river. In the Cano Cristales found five colors: yellow, blue, green, black and red. All of them are waste product of many algae and, depending on time of year, color saturation, or weakened or strengthened. Glass Beach - The Dump You'll Want to Visit Before you say anything about the content of this article, I hate people who litter. I’ll judge you if I think you’re too lazy to recycle. I hate pollution and the death of our fragile ecosystems and all the rest. But- with that disclaimer out of the way- Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, California is the incredible result of human wastefulness and the resilience of nature. It’s like a little Inuksuk… I’ve been trolling around for lesser known landscapes to road trip to and explore, and stumbled across this chunk of multicoloured west coast paradise. These days, Glass Beach is a protected part of MacKerricher State Park, but in 1949, it was the site of an unrestricted dump. Eventually, California realized that dumping automobiles, appliances, toxic substances and razor sharp shards of glass into the water was probably a bad idea, and looked elsewhere for a dumping site. The beaches under the cliffs lay polluted, cluttered and ruined, and were basically treated as a forgotten ‘mistake.’

Fine Art of an Icelandic Volcano Eruption (10 photos) In 2010, Iceland experienced an epic volcanic eruption that captured the attention of people worldwide. Eyjafjallajökull spewed ash into the air as experts warned that the tiny particles of rock, glass and sand contained in the ash cloud was sufficient to jam aircraft engines. European air traffic was at a standstill for weeks. While most saw the natural disaster as a huge inconvenience, Swedish landscape and aerial photographer Hans Strand saw it as an opportunity. Interestingly, Strand was able to capture the volcano with such crispness and clarity that after the initial processing, where he corrected the color balance, he performed no further editing. Update: We got in touch with Strand to ask him more about this very unique experience. What made you decide to pursue photography as your full-time career? You were a mechanical engineer for 9 years before you became a photographer. What was it like shooting the volcano from the sky? Thanks for the interview, Hans! Hans Strand's website

What is causing the waves in California to glow? It looks like something from the movie "Avatar": ocean waters that light up like neon glow sticks when they splash. Beaches across southern California have recently been alight with eerie, glowing waves. What could be causing such an otherworldly phenomenon? A recent report by Discovery News has provided an answer. According to marine biologist Jorge Ribas, the glowing is caused by a massive red tide, or algae bloom, of bioluminescent phytoplankton called Lingulodinium polyedrum. The microorganisms emit light in response to stress, such as when a wave crashes into the shore, a surfboard slashes through the surf, or a kayaker's paddle splashes the water. The phenomenon has been observed on a semi-regular basis since at least 1901 along the beaches around San Diego, Calif. For surfers who don't mind catching a wave in water teeming with a sludge of microorganisms, the glowing ocean offers the chance of a lifetime.

KevRyan bw Kev ben4321 This bridge and it's reflection make a great subject, but I think the shot would have worked better if you could have taken it from further to the right and maybe a bit higher up in order to have some separation between the reflection and the river bank. Cheers, Ben bwiti lilimih33 Hello Elaine! vincz kevinos Brendon Jen
