A One Man Mobile Studio At Burning Man

A One Man Mobile Studio At Burning Man
When acclaimed studio photographer Eric Schwabel goes to Burning Man he doesn’t leave his passion behind. In 2010 he took a clever hand built “light suit” to the massive festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and captured the plethora of beautiful, colorful revelers in engaging detail. Below we catch up with Schwabel for an exclusive interview about his experiences on the dusty playa. See Also SCOTT LONDON CAPTURES THE MAGIC OF BURNING MAN For more on the Burning Man festival see burningman.com (be sure to check out their Survival Guide). If you like Burning Man, make sure to check out the photography of Scott London. How heavy was your human light suit and was it hard to steer? The suit gives your images an almost in-studio lighting effect. Back when you were planning this escapade we turned you on to another friend of Visual News, Mike Hedge, for advise on keeping your camera snappy on the dusty playa. What was the response like from the people you photographed? That’s a lot of lights.

Stranger Project on the Behance Network I started this project in 2007, my first goal when i started is to breack the usual rule of « dont speack to stranger, dont disturbe people in public space» So this is my approche at first: Questioning the modern world in which we are living and trying to break this individualism and the anonymity of the big city. By going into “Non-lieux” (no existing places) (subways, malls, and crowded streets at rush hours …;) and by talking to people to take photos, I break the usual way this modern world works for a few instants. I make real these “non-lieux” by creating an event that the stranger will remember. So all my model are stanger meeting in the street, trains, subway, mails, etc. ( I look for an editor for making a Book )

What is causing the waves in California to glow? It looks like something from the movie "Avatar": ocean waters that light up like neon glow sticks when they splash. Beaches across southern California have recently been alight with eerie, glowing waves. What could be causing such an otherworldly phenomenon? A recent report by Discovery News has provided an answer. The phenomenon has been observed on a semi-regular basis since at least 1901 along the beaches around San Diego, Calif. For surfers who don't mind catching a wave in water teeming with a sludge of microorganisms, the glowing ocean offers the chance of a lifetime. Several videos posted on YouTube show the majestic effects of the phenomenon.

Culture jamming Culture jamming (sometimes guerrilla communication)[1][2] is a tactic used by many anti-consumerist social movements[3] to disrupt or subvert media culture and its mainstream cultural institutions, including (but not limited to) corporate advertising. It attempts to "expose the methods of domination" of a mass society to foster progressive change.[4] Culture jamming is a form of subvertising.[5] Many culture jams are intended to expose questionable political assumptions behind commercial culture. Tactics include re-figuring logos; fashion statements; and product images as a means to challenge the idea of "what's cool."[6] Culture jamming often entails using mass media to produce ironic or satirical commentary about itself, commonly using the original medium's communication method. Origins of the term, etymology and history[edit] 1984 coinage[edit] As awareness of how the media environment we occupy affects and directs our inner life grows, some resist. Man Tries to Pay Cops with Pig-Shaped Dollar Bills Bacon Moose's 137 origami pigs A Houston man went hog-wild over a $137 ticket for an expired inspection sticker and tried to pay the fine in $1 bills each folded into a pig. He then presented the litter of paper porkers in a doughnut box, apparently hoping to catch the cops on a coffee break. The man, who identifies himself only as “Bacon Moose,” posted the hilarious video on YouTube. “Hamming” it up on the video, Bacon goes to the window and tries to present the carefully crafted origami piglets to the clerk, who was not amused. The clerk, who called a cop in uniform for back-up, refused to accept the money, saying it would take too long to unfold and count them. Poor Bacon had to sit there and unfold each of his little pet swine, but not before he protested to the clerk that it was perfectly legal tender and he would have paid with a credit card but didn’t want to incur the extra fee they charged. Olmec Olmec jadeite mask 1000–600 BCE The Olmec were the first 'major' civilization in Mexico following a progressive development in Soconusco.[1] They lived in the tropical lowlands of south-central Mexico, in the present-day states of Veracruz and Tabasco. It has been speculated that Olmec derive in part from neighboring Mokaya and/or Mixe–Zoque. The Olmec flourished during Mesoamerica's formative period, dating roughly from as early as 1500 BCE to about 400 BCE. Pre-Olmec cultures had flourished in the area since about 2500 BCE, but by 1600–1500 BCE, Early Olmec culture had emerged, centered on the San Lorenzo Tenochtitlán site near the coast in southeast Veracruz.[2] They were the first Mesoamerican civilization and laid many of the foundations for the civilizations that followed.[3] Among other "firsts", the Olmec appeared to practice ritual bloodletting and played the Mesoamerican ballgame, hallmarks of nearly all subsequent Mesoamerican societies. Resonate DJ Controller by Vibhas Jain For Aspiring DJ’s The RSON8 is a touchscreen controller for aspiring DJ’s, talent required, although it does make mixing music a lot easier for noobs. The device has grooves where digital buttons appear allowing one to augment track(s) and levels. The screen also uses next generation tactile feedback substrates so you can literally feel the sliders. And if you’re still scratching your head as to how to pronounce it, try “resonate”. Go (game) Go originated in ancient China. Archaeological evidence shows that the early game was played on a board with a 17×17 grid, but by the time the game had spread to Korea and Japan, in about the 5th and 7th centuries AD respectively, boards with a 19×19 grid had become standard.[6] The first 60 moves of a Go game, animated. This particular game quickly developed into a complicated fight in the lower left and bottom. Go is an adversarial game with the objective of surrounding more territory than one's opponent.[2] As the game progresses, the board gets divided up into areas of territory, as outlined by groups of stones. These areas are then contested in local battles, which are often complicated, and may result in the expansion, reduction, or wholesale capture and loss of the contested area. The four liberties (adjacent empty points) of a single black stone (A), as White reduces those liberties by one (B, C, and D). If White plays at A, the black chain loses its last liberty.

How did life originate? How did life originate? Living things (even ancient organisms like bacteria) are enormously complex. However, all this complexity did not leap fully-formed from the primordial soup. Simple organic molecules were formed. Multicellularity evolved. Jesus Christ in comparative mythology The study of Jesus Christ in comparative mythology is the examination of the narratives of the life of Jesus in the Christian gospels, traditions and theology, as it relates to Christian mythology and other religions. For over a century, various authors have drawn a number of parallels between the Christian views of Jesus and other religious or mythical domains.[1] These include Greco-Roman mysteries, ancient Egyptian myths and more general analogies involving cross-cultural patterns of dying and rising gods in the context of Christ myth theory.[2] While some scholars continue to support these analogies, others contend that the perceived similarities are often without historical basis, that first century monotheistic Galilean Jews would not have been open to pagan myths, and claim that the analogies are usually based on parallelomania, exaggerating the importance of trifling resemblances.[3][1][4][5] Comparative mythology Overview Greco-Roman mysteries E. Sadly the whole thing was a set up as the photographers had “the real equipment on wheels”.
And all shots are photshopped.
Now you go figure who are the real photgraphers on the playa. There are plenty that are clean and real.
