Preachit! I really like this program but it has a bug that make things difficult if you are not careful. I have a joomla site that is not installed in the root directory of the website. For example my website is installed in /new/ folder on the website. I have placed Audio files in the /new/audio/ Directory. When you set up your folders in folder's settings it asked you for the name of the folders. If at some point you decide to upload a new file using the component's back end it will recreate a folder called /new/new/audio and place it in that folder. If your site is in the root directory this does not apply to you because both the upload and the folder setting would be set at /audio/ instead. Overall I really like this module and our site it planning to be moved to the root directory in the future so it will work fine. IF your site has any forms as core parts of your web site then look no further than this component from ChronoEngine. At present you could have some minor problems with the proverbial clash between MooTools and jQuery. However, the latest Joomla 3 is supposed to support both MooTools and jQuery in the no conflict mode and more importantly Max the Chronoforms Developer is working on and about to release an updated version which will address this problem. How do I know all this, well very simply through the most excellent forum support system that they have in place and it’s free, free, free. Although this is a free component in the spirit of open source software, other developers please take note, it is only fair to contribute to their software development which will inevitably benefit us all by either buying them a beer or purchasing the optional validation code.
Weather GK4 I downloaded the extension from their Gavick website the version 1.1.0 which the website says was last updated Jan 25, 2011. However, upon installation, the backend says the extension was actually Jan 31, 2010 update. The extension itself looks nice. Unfortunately, the latitude, longitude, and timezone settings don't work. Supposedly, based on these settings the displayed icons will alternately show either a sun or a moon depending on the time of the day for these settings. Also, the weather forecast displayed seems to be less accurate compared to The Weather Underground.
